The fact that the Elantra N is constantly being compared to the car class above it (Golf R, HCR) and not it’s own class (Si, GTI) speaks wonders on how badass this car is.
  • It's the ultimate compliment to the Elantra N to be compared to the new Civic Type R ! Think about it...the Elantra N is priced like an Si ! I'm super proud to have an Elantra N in my driveway !
  • @Matt-gn7uz
I've been shopping both of these. Elantra N can be had at MSRP. Honda dealerships are selling Type R's for $10,000 over MSRP. So in reality the Elantra N is $20,000 less.
  • @Max_Thunder
The Elantra N looks like an 80's movies depicting what future cars would look like.
  • @ENtense
For how many times I hear someone hating on the looks of the Elantra N on videos, I have 10x many more complimenting how good it looks in person.
  • @finixchi3360
Just being compared to the type R is already a win for the elantra N. I hope they don't stop developing it. So that the type R would have a decent rival
  • Owner of a 23 Elantra N. Definitely a fun car, with plenty of power and handling to send it. The exhaust itself probably makes me like this more than the Type R, even if that might perform a bit better. There's nothing like going under an overpass and hearing a few cracks

5:24 The lighter clutch for N actually is a lesson learned from Genesis Coupe. The transmission wasn't as responsive and the clutch was quite heavy back then. It was one of the cars that you need some time to get used to, but with N, that time gets decreased significantly. N is more friendly to new comers into performance car, but also fun. And that popcorn noise.
  • @GingkoMister
I took the N, and I can't be happier with this decision. Definitely considered CTR during the purchasing process. But in the real world, I either need to wait for 2 years factory order or take 30k CAD mark up. I am sure the CTR is a better car, but not 40k better.
  • @ErvahNoir
Had an Elantra N pass me yesterday on my way to work and didn't realize it was even a model until that moment. It's nice to see that Hyundai is really making a name for themselves and giving the big dogs a run for their kibble!
  • Awesome review from these guys...I have an Elantra N and i totally respect Honda's heritage the Type R is legend...Im just glad i could afford something that i like and that has decent performance.
  • I'm so glad I got an Elantra N. Its somewhat compromised and unrefined but it works for me. It looks awesome with black wheels and 5 or 10mm of negative offset. More importantly I have $12,000 more in the bank.
  • @en_noah4615
Im an elantra N owner here, i would not trade my N for the R. i would have the N even if it was the same price. the N in DCT form is faster, and by a LOT I am able to sit right with 10 speed 5.0s bone stock. the civic just doesn't do it for me. No hate to my type R brothers though. i just prefer the N
  • I choose the Elantra N hands down. cheap. warranty. heated seats. sick exhaust. and I like the look. all hondas still look the same.
  • @bigjdm5460
I’m seeing a lot of people saying the Elantra looks good……..mark ups on the type R has turned enthusiast BLIND.
  • Oh man the editing of the styling discussion killed me LOL
  • @sgillard960
As a Honda enthusiast and owner of an FK8, I really like the Elantra. I like the over styling (ahh, hello, did I mention I have an FK8?) and futuristic look. As pointed out in the article, the driving public are the winners here with so many brilliant turbo hatches on the market.
  • THANK YOU for doing this comparison, and perfectly summing everyone's feelings in this video. If there were a million Type R's, we would all own one. But between availability, mark-ups, growing families, and people who cannot afford a 45K+ "weekend" car, the Elantra N, to me, is the champion. I own an Accord 2.0T 6 Speed, and I may be selling to replace as my dad hauler DD. Thank you Everyday Driver
  • @samthecar
The CTR is the better car but the price difference is huge. Elantra N wins imo.
  • Every time I watch one of your videos, I am impressed and amazed by how thorough you are covering every single feature about the cars you drive. It's so good to see someone covering the power and the way it's delivered, and the feel of the seats and the buttons. You guys are incredible!
