The Black Out Charger is in essence Americas RA40 Lotus Carlton, a car that was uncatchable for its era and getting within 100ft of it was because the driver let you. Both were built on very common saloons of their time, one modified by Lotus Engineering to be the worlds fastest saloon and one most likely modified in his or her’s home garage to evade the authorities for shits and giggles. While the RA40 Carlton’s legendary existence came to an end in 1994, the Black Out Charger is still alive and there’s no telling if the next Black Charger with a loud exhaust you see is just an average mopar enthusiast or the infamous blackout charger.

  • Dodge knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they gave the cops the nerfed charger

I love that you, an American, somehow managed to find a clipping from the Birmingham Post about 40 RA being fished out of a canal, therefore doing an infinitely better job of researching the story than any of the actual Brits I've seen. Awesome video as always. You could literally narrate paint drying and make it sound cool.

Blacking out tail lights is the most notorious modification ever to exist😂😂😂
  • @allenbrodess8510
'likely modified in his garage to evade law enforcement for shits and giggles' love it lol
  • @SegwayBossk
What i learned: I've got almost a 50/50 shot at getting away from the cops. Just make sure you quicksave beforehand so you can reload your previous save if you get caught

Dodge is somewhere smiling ear to ear coming up with a plan to pay homage to the legendary blacked out Dodge Charger 😅
  • Man the Lotus Carlton was a poster on my wall, 30 years old and that car still stands up as one of the greatest cars of all time in my mind

I watched one of these Hellcat chase videos where the speedometer on the Hellcat reached 209 mph. That is insane.
  • @rus0004
"You can't outrun the radio." Apparently you can in a Hellcat.
  • @crypto_que
Forgot the Hellcat that left the helicopter in the dust. Bro was booking so fast the chopper had to turn around or run out of fuel. LEGENDARY!
  • @WMOODY
Officer Hernandez should feel special. He was allowed to touch the car

Unreported but happened: in the late 80s, a person got away from a chase by not going super fast ( although he did) but by putting kilowatt level flash bulbs in his trunk, triggered to pop up and activate. They totally blinded the officer behind, and he took off and was never seen again. I wont say where i know this happened, as it was speculated at the time it was spooky related.

Dodge knew their exact target audience for the hellcat/demon/scats , and it worked just how they wanted 😆
  • @corning1
201 hp to 377?! That’s insane. Especially in that time. And a 6 apeed from the zr1 lol. What a beast.
  • @whowhatware1711
@ 18:00 when the blacked out charger starts running you can see about 4 or 5 chargers in the left lane get passed by the cop. Guaranteed they all know each other and dude was like watch me get away.😂

Seeing all those Hemi 392/Hellcat videos on youtube essentially pranking cops then taking off is what made me fall in love with those engines.
  • @Sknwlker
It's amazing how we came from an era where a V8 produced only 65 hp to present where they're capable of doing over 1000 hp. Simply astonishing when you look at what we achieved.
  • @GrgBuiltCoyote
How does 337 Speed not have his own Netflix show!?!?!?
  • @kentdurham2716
Probably the best professional video on You tube. Pretty cagey making a video about your black charger also.
