Welcome to the newest Star Citizen ship review, featuring the Top 5 best uses for the Anvil Terrapin! The Terrapin is a deep-space armored scout ship utilized by the United Empire of Earth Navy (UEEN). Outfitted with sensitive long-range scanners, it is used for long duration reconnaissance and leg patrol missions where crewmembers might need to be separated from support facilities for weeks at a time.

But what do you think of the Terrapin?
Have you used on in game?
And what do you think about its price?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

This ship is well-liked by many players, but it would have been so much more popular if it had cost $150-$180 instead of $220. Apart from its price, it's a great little ship!

    1) Terrapin also has a good capacitor, so while the guns are only size 2s, they also can shoot about 125 shots each before recharging I think. Also has 3 coolers so overheating should never be an issue. 2) The gun rack has enough spaces to fully arm 2 people with 2 rifles, 1 pistol, 1 multitool, and 1 medical gun each, so once the unique radar scanner works then it's a reliable little ship for a couple explorers.
  • The lore also mentioned the Terrapin being the Marine’s preferred troop-carrier-dropship. I wonder if anyone has tried that in game yet

I loved this intro to the ship. It was refreshing compared to many others. Well done!

Just watched your 5 uses video. Great info, thank you. I still dont know how the scanners are going to work but look forward to running it, now to see if it fits in a carrack landing bay

Great review! Thank you! I'm doing some upgrading and melting to get this ship again at Invictus.
  • It's ability to vent heat by opening it's armor and then slow it's release by closing the armor it's going to be one of the best picket ships. You can watch over a group of miners or salvagers, staying out of sensor sight as much as possible while listening for any incoming ships. You can watch and listen further than the miners will and be able to alert them when to get packing, call in reinforcements, and directing allies to targets. It's one of those ships that will have more to do when all those features are implemented, but not much to do now sadly.

Exciting future for the Terrapin; thanks for the steadfast enthusiasm!
  • I’d love to see this get a variant with medical systems, I know we already have the cutty red and the Apollo and not the Pisces medical but still, It Looks kinda like an AV-4 and with it’s armour and interior soace it would be brilliant as a combat medic ship especially with the strong VTOL thrusters and smaller size

I love this ship! It’s my daily driver for deliveries. I love ships with VTOL. It flys so good too! 😀

Still need a trauma team style medical variant for the terrapin

If modularity was in the game allowing for the scanner and seat to be replaced with a turret, the rear compartment to be changed to a small cargo grid, or space to put a small ground vehicle or a couple pods for live bounties. Put in a few more seats sacrifice some of that quantum fuel for more air to transport a special ops insertion team. upgrade the scanner to be a jammer, blocking or scrambling enemy ships or give it the capability to target for torpedoes off of an eclipse and to pick up stealth ships. Things I would love to see included not only for the Terrapin but other ships. kind of how they do the Titan, 'Cutty, i100,i300 series of ships. Same chasse but with a variety of internals to focus on one profession or the other, to at least let a player the option of a different and not some game breaking change. but for now, it is my favorite ship frame without a functional game loop. The price is clearly ridiculous for the ship type, functionality, and size. like the blade, the pricing is clearly used to keep the ship out of the game as much as possible. the blade being an alien fighter ship is light, under gunned, lower performance capabilities and hugely more expensive than ANY other in its class. The Terrapin is priced, even by the lore, way above what it should be and made difficult to get. As a ship made for the wars that are no longer out there the manufacturer would have dropped the price and at least attempted to convert or made a convertion for the ship available to get them into the market, but nope, just create more luxury yacht types and gimmicky ships to put out there for multi crew roles and elite players, don't expand the availability of entry or even second tier solo casual player base.

I keep coming back to look at the Terrapin. Deep inside I want one, but even though I am trudging through to Space Marshal I just never seem to be able to justify it with cash or even with aUEC. I think the only way it is going to find it's way into my fleet prior to scanning/data running would be a best in show.
  • I've used it at JT, Tanky, can hover for literal hours, weapons rack, bed, enough room for an scu box. Looking forward to getting the mighty space turtle back at IAE.
  • @novus2106
Honestly would make sense with a dropship variant as well replacing the single censor seat with a couple of dropseats and possibly adding a side door on the other side similar to the cutlass
  • I got an Anvil paperweight in an exploration pack. Upgraded it to BMM just as fast as I could
  • @shandon122
Thing deserves a combat dropship or medical variant. It looks so amazing, it would be far more useful and could easily outperform the pisces rescue and cutlass red
