My reviews are of the ship STOCK, when you purchase the ship on the store or in game. This means no upgrades were applied, nor do I typically discuss upgrades.

This video showcases the Anvil Terrapin, a deep space scout used commonly by the UEE. Does it have any advantages in the current version of Star Citizen? is it worth its price point now or down the road?

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed!

  • The sensor dish is there with the seat because that design is from when the UEE Navy first formed. She is literally a first generation ship. Built with battleship armor, her main issue is, if you stay sealed up with the sensors on, she'll cook her crew. She's a 2 person crew because the crew are expected to hot bunk like on a wet navy sub with someone constantly manning the sensors with someone else sleeping, eating or performing maintenance
  • A medical variant would be a great idea. When armour is implemented in game it would be a great MedEvac ship. Getting in and out under fire.

had one, used it for bounties, it has such a deep weapon capacitor it can continuiously fire for a while. the idea, i feel, with the terrapin is to sit somewhere kind of stealthily and scan, front line or behind enemylines recon hence the awesome heavy armor and little firepower, it just needs to be able to quantum out to safety, fast. this deals with the single bed issue you raised, have your recon log on, provide reports and then perhaps leave the ship there after bed logging again. as well as exploration that isn't a thing yet as you said, but this might be where you use two people, one scanner and pilot set off from a station enjoying a session together trying to find something. my terrapin also sits in buyback. thanks for the video

In a military ship like that for 2 people, you would NEVER have both people sleeping at the same time. I would like to see the scanner seat taken out as well and the pilot given a remote scanning turret instead and something else done with that space, but I like the bed, bathroom, weapons and suit locker. The nose turret should also be upgraded to a quad turret instead of a twin. Other than that, it's a great little ship. It's got enough inventory space to do a little bit of loothing as well.

You did the "stock ship review" warning! <3 Love it, cant wait to watch rhe rest (built up a bunch to watch whike i was away)
  • @Clockwerk0_0
Appreciate your stock ship reviews. Since you mentioned though some top loadout breakdowns of ships would be cool in the future.
  • @jafo6250
I agree with your assessment 100%. But damn I love flying it!
  • @sunnyschramm9650
I love everything about it - especially the "beefy" exterior - and would buy it immediately IF...it didn't have such a boring and ugly cockpit 😞 The red light and the interior with the scanner seat looks great though. A combat variant instead of a scan variant would be cool again. So keep waiting until the Vulcan arrives...

if they are going to make it where you swap out with a partner i would just make the ship have a fly or scan toggle mode and remove the middle seat. Then swap out the gun racks out for jumpseats with gun racks on the handles like the valkyrie. Then move the suit locker into a compartment above the bed. you basicly keep most of the ships function but now have a modular area where the gun racks are you can swap out for seats, medical bed ect and then the storage space over the bed and over the modular area can hold whatever supplies you need.

I love the terrapin! That being said, to me it says "I'm a cute turtle, buy me with auec!" Not "I'm an awesome ship, buy me with USD!", plus it's relatively cheap in game. So I just pick it up when I have the spending units, and enjoy it at that.
  • @AUXdaFox-Hobbies
I agree, the expensive turtle is awesome, but until exploration is truly ready it's just not great at its intended role. It does however make a fantastic dropship!
  • @UncleFester84
I'd love to have a dropship variant of the Terrapin, rip out the habitation and scanning stuff, and put in a squad worth of jumpreats and an enlarged weapons rack. It would be perfect for short range missions and deploy from an Idris (since no other dropship fit).
  • Love this ship and use it daily. Typically do bunkers with it. Actually does up to MRT's easy enough. And yes, I own it.
  • @Revi2151
I believe in-lore there are multiple variants of the terrapin, including a boarding shuttle and med-evac, so I have high hopes for those in-game in the future!
  • @offstage1147
i own a terrapin and hands down is my fav to fly and land , it feels nice and like your in control.and you can land hard, where other ships would go boom
  • I have one and I love it. Having said that, with the current gameplay, I couldn’t recommend it to anyone. It has potential and desperately needs a rework. The door has bugged out a few times and stranded me. I mostly run bunkers with it. Again, I can’t recommend it, but I love the darn thing and don’t plan to ever melt it.
  • @LordAikido
I have one, it's a garage queen... barely sees the light of day. Cool looking ship, gets a lot of attention when I do bring it out; but mostly goes unused.
  • I love the look. I think that's what everyone really appreciates. I bought one in game and use it for hostile bunkers because it can take a few hits as I circle around looking for a close landing zone. It doesn't really have a good future. It's not a good explorer compared to every other explorer out there. Speed is life. The Terrapin has no speed or offense. It also has no cargo to carry items. If it can be redesigned for what it's good at as an armored assault lander I think I'd actually buy it. But, it's a buy in game type of ship for now.
