More than half of the states in the U.S. have legalized recreational and medical marijuana use. However, cannabis remains just as illegal as heroin on the federal level. This environment can be tricky to navigate, both for cannabis businesses and for the lawyers who advise them. In this video, Boston University law professor Jay Wexler explains how states got around the federal ban on cannabis, and Lauren Thomas, general counsel of the marijuana software company, Dutchie, describes the unique legal challenges that cannabis businesses face. Imagine getting out of prison after 30 years sentence because of marijuana just to see marijuana has being legal on the street. Would be a very numb and existentially depressing moment

Legalize and decriminalize weed all 50 states. Federal wants money, state wants business. Now would be a good time to advocate change, since we are still in the pandemic.

They really need to change this federal law. I don't even smoke but the law is bad and the current drug classification is a complete joke.
  • And Thomas Jefferson once said if a law is constitutionally unjust it is the duty of every citizen and legislator not to follow it or enforce it

Should have never been illegal in the first place. Federal legalize cannabis ASAP.

Ppl deserve a Legal, Non-addictive, Non-deadly alternative to Alcohol, Tobacco & Rx meds. Legalize marijuana, period.

But Tobacco and Alcohol is ok. Regardless of the negative effect it has had on lives and overall health compared to marijuana. Not to mention all the chemicals added to tobacco strictly just to make tobacco products more addictive (which has always been and is still legal in my lifetime at least) why does the legalization of marijuana on a federal level have to be so complicated still, what a Joke

Nixon would use Marijuana at the forefront of the controlled substances act yet probably had an alcoholic beverage every night.

I moved from a state (TX) where anything other than flower is a felony. And they’ve only recently eased up on personal amounts. I remember watching friends go to jail for roaches and pipes.

Today is my 59th birthday! I just lost my job of 3 years because of a positive THC drug test. (In Blue Ridge GA) The person who I served is disabled and now deprived of my service. (I never used while working) I have Glaucoma and PTSD and Pot helps better than anything else I've tried.... Plus I like how it makes me feel. I am now without a job.... and this sucks. I am heart-broken for my friend that I served. I love and miss him, and my fellow co-workers.

Federal government to the cannabis industry: "You can't use our banks, but we still want our cut of your money!"

I am glad I live in IL for once. Marijuana has worked wonders for my sleep. The only thing that is criminal is that it is illegal.

The federal government deserves to be harshly disciplined for keep in it illegal. From pay deductions to the threat of prison.

It's nice to see all the reform over the past few years. We got bigger issues in the world just tax it and move on.
