Phil Collins is not just a musician; he is an institution.
  • @csphoenix9
Sadly, Phil can't play or sing anymore because of illness,he can't perform anymore. Much respect for Phil
  • You just witnessed the legend. Phil Collins. There will never be another Phil Collins. Everybody who knows Phil…knew exactly what was coming. That’s the excitement.

No matter what your favorite genre of music is, if you don't like this song then you're dead inside.

The best drum drop ever 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Some people can play drums, and some people can sing. Phil Collins is one of just a handful of people who can do both so perfectly

Phil Collins had been performing this song live this exact way for nearly 20 years when this was filmed. The crowd were waiting to hear this. The bass guitarist, Leland Sklar, had been performing with Phil for most of his career. The lead guitarist, Daryl Stuermer had been doing the same. From the very first sounds in the intro, the crowd knew what was going on. Phil Collins originally released this song in 1981 and it was one of his biggest hits ever. It was nearly always one of his encore performances. Everyone there knew the next move. That was the thing. It was the build-up that we were all in on. We knew it would end with him at the drumkit and the exact part of the song when he would start playing. The fun part was watching him walk around the stage carefully making sure he was in the right place at the very right time. They didn't call him Fabulous Phil for nothing.

This was in Paris 2004, I was 30 years old and we were 80,000 people in the audience. It was magical beyond words. A huge shoutout to the bass player Leland Sklar, with that long white nice ZZ Top beard, one of the best bass players in the world. He is 76 now and a really cool dude with his own YT channel. I will never forget this concert, it was pure magic!

It amazes me how few people know that Phil Collins is a drummer. In fact, one of the top 5 drummers in the world, in my opinion. Very few drummers also have the lead vocal in a band. But Phil pulls it off with style.

Phil Collins ruled the 80's! You can't go wrong listening to any of his solo work or with Genesis!
  • @jaynehogue2459
He is one of the only people who could hold the attention of 80000 people with his voice

Phil Collins is probably my favorite prog rock drummer of all time. He had such a smooth and groovy feel. Many people don't even realize that he played drums on 12 Genesis albums and was the lead singer on only 8.
  • @davidtoupal1015
When he headed for the drums the crowd started to cheer because they knew what was going to happen

How in the world can you NOT know this legendary song???
  • @erickdehaan4641
Why the hell do I cry EVERYTIME when the song ends…what a masterpiece ❤

As a drummer in a band that often required me to sing as well...I can attest to the level of difficulty trying to drum--playing an instrument with both sides of your brain engaged as well as all four limbs--often each in a different time signature--and sing...drumming and singing is a true skill. BRAVO Phil!!
  • @Cadinho93
As Phil Collins once said, "I'm a drummer that can sing a little". He's a legend now and forever. Also, everyone in the audience KNEW what was coming… such a legendary performance!
  • Only about 100 people on this planet can drum and sing at same time thats how rare it is and he is super talented and he knew how to catch audiences
