It's interesting how Alessi bullying characters that are weaker than him, while crumpling to those who are stronger than him directly parallels how he is in the show
  • @docs.a.t.7161
Capcom was bold for the decision to give him no anti airs, to symbolize that he only attacks those below himself
  • @TheGameDomeGuy
Khan becoming a cow is a thing from the manga where the anubis sword is broken and one half just sticks to a cow that goes nuts because a freaking sword blade is stuck on its ass

I love how when a character's move description starts with "X pulls out a gun" it's either a bog standard projectile or some of the most bullshit you've ever seen with absolutely 0 in-between.

I love how they just gave alessi a gun. He is one hundred the type to bring a gun to shoot a child
  • youngseph's kid mode buttons have better frame data and hitboxes than his regular normals, this is fine

My favorite part about Alessi is how his posture changes when he turns his opponent into a kid. Cuz he isn't confident when facing against someone stronger than a child. Edit: I guess it is pretty fitting Alessi even on a metagame tier list level is great at bullying people weaker than him (low tiers) but folds spectacularly against people stronger than him. Also the reason Khan turns into a cow is that its a reference to that one cow that Anubis impaled by accident before he fell into the Nile
  • I can actually answer why Alessi was top tier in ventures! friends with potoatoboih who did a bunch of hftf tas, and according to them its a combination of him being one of the few characters with a dashing low, which also loops into itself which gives him an infinite, and also child mode lasts twice as long in ventures.

I literally said "oh no" when you mentioned hitbox placement, I should have known he couldn't have proper disjoints even in this silly game
  • @IWantThatKey
That sub-pixel animation in his idle stance though, incredible
  • @fauxfirefur
I'm impressed they managed to make his place in the meta match his character so perfectly.

I'm surprised that Alessi's Stand On forward dash bug wasn't mentioned because it's a funny one and I know some people are crazy enough to utilize it in matches from time to time (at least I remember Guruslum using it back in the day). If you time an attack right at the end of the dash, Alessi's attack will either not come out at all or will recover MUCH QUICKER. Now, if you managed to time it so that the move did not come out at all and if you were to plink another normal on the next frame, Alessi would perform TWO ATTACKS AT THE SAME TIME out of his dash WITH REDUCED RECOVERY, one move's recovery cancelling out the other one, resulting in insane advantage on block, possibly leading to extended combos as well. It is frame perfect and as long as you can time another attack on the last frame of previous all of his moves will have reduced recovery. Pretty sure we dubbed it "Genei Jin Alessi" at one point. Really hard to do but very fun to look at.

It's really funny how they gave Alessi, of all characters, a slot. The dude is probably the least popular character in the entire run of the manga. I wonder if it was just to enable Young Joseph. The fact that he ended up being genuinely well-liked as a result is pretty great.

8:38 at the end of the Anubis chapter the sword tries to find a new host. First taking control of a random kid (black polnareff's deaged form) and when the kid trips and drops the sword, with it somehow being thrown at a ox on a boat (khan's deaged form) somewhere which Anubis tries to control it but loses control and is send to the bottom of a river, doomed to rust for eternity.

I love how Alessi is one of a handful of characters who can run, but he can only run backwards, because he's such a coward. Also Rubber Soul video when
  • I love how his hitboxes are just "Who the fuck did this?? First fighting game?"
  • @SiggyTundra
Best way I can understand it is that alessi mode is an install for you and an uninstall for your opponent.

Every weird transformation off Alessi mode is a reference in the original work. Off my head Hol Horse - The kid J-Gail tried to use to kill Polnareff Mariah - The old lady Joseph encountered while he's magnetised Robber Soul - The guise he assumed Khan - The cow Anubis stabbed while he's trying to save himself from getting thrown into the river Dio - Nukesaku, one of his henchmen Shadow Dio - Wanchan, also his henchmen, and his severed head Dark Polnareff - The kid who got the broken Anubis sword
