I recently went to a cardiologist at my GP’s recommendation bc of high LDL and I can’t take statins. I asked the cardiologist about the triglyceride/HDL ratio marker. He said it’s about the LDL. And the lower the better. And he wrote a script and sent me away. I’ll be seeing a different cardiologist soon.

Not gonna lie, this is absolutely one of the best channel on Youtube. Great video (as always)!

I'm excited to see Part 2 up -- we really managed to cover a lot of ground here. Like he says at the end, I too would have enjoyed geeking out quite a bit longer.
  • I’m a 57-year-old female who hasn’t been to a doctor in 19 years until recently. I’m usually on a 16-hour fast, but not in keto; I had my first bloodwork done and got a frantic call from my doctor & he wanted to put me on statin, but I asked for 3 months to “fix” it myself. These were my results after some 15-hour fast with just a cup of tea: total cholesterol 335; triglycerides 51; HDL 104; VLDL 10; LDL 221; A1c 5.4; glucose 83; urinalysis for glucose was negative; my BMI is 20.1 The doctor said I can get a heart attack. I enjoy my current eating plan of healthy fats, veges, grass-fed meat, and at least 2 free-range eggs a day, and not much starchy stuff. I feel so much better after your videos. Thank you!

I've started to binge watch your videos, and they are great! I have 2 suggestions to make: You should try to summarize your videos at the end, so we can remember things better. It also would be great if you could add timestamps on the video description, with the talked topics, like you did on other videos.

I think we need more and more engineer-minded people to take care of medicine

Well, that won't sell Statins. Get that information off the internet!!!! NOW!

I have high LDL (but I’m healthy and active) and this was fantastic! I’m currently learning about LDL in my Molecular Cell Biology class and it was great to be able to understand all your bio vocab! I’m extremely interested in your research!

The outlets that could promote this information are owned by advertisers. The scientists and researchers who could study this material are owned by corporate labs or at Universities which are funded by corporations or the state which is lobbied by large corporations. If someone independent comes along, they will just get negatively labeled by these outlets and they will circle the wagons. There is nothing to sell or consume. If you want to recover from what they want you to buy, then you simply need to consume less of it. This is a message that would be suicide to large corporations that have their fingers into production/manufacturing, government regulation/legislation, professional and mainstream publications/media, schools and universities, non-profits, etc.

Every time I hear Dave I am amazed at the logic that comes out of his mouth and the clear and entertaining way he does it. Great channel by the way always listen to your stuff. One of the channels one can trust to be balanced and informative.

Finally some indications and theory as to why bad ldl might be good for you and an indicator of health and not the opposite. Well done and well presented!
  • I came back from the doctor with rather high LDL cholesterol for my age (26) even though I eat healthy and I'm on the skinny end and I was lowkey worried and then this video immediately opens up with "for women this actually may speak FOR longevity" haha
  • I do thoroughly enjoy actual content instead of sales. You sir deserve a reward for your efforts in film making, and research development.
  • @meagiesmuse2334
A Lyme Disease specialist explained to me that the reason Lyme patients have such high LDL is that it removes the potent endotoxins from the blood that might otherwise kill us. I also found one article saying that the higher your LDL is when you are over 60, the lower your chances of having dementia, in direct proportion. Also, high LDL in women over 60 gave a 40% lower chance of breast cancer. This was several years ago, but no other doctors I've seen know any of it. They also still insist on fasting cholesterol tests, though the AHA has said it is better not to fast for that test.
