I find myself coming back to this video from time to time. Sometimes a month, sometimes a week, but I always find myself grinning like a child. Thank You Carfection and Henry for this gem of automotive treasure. Long live the manual!

This was like watching Planet Earth but more like Planet Cars.

What a phenomenally well made video. Beautifully shot and edited. Fantastic
  • Everytime I change a gear in a manual transmission there is that feel of internal satisfaction.
  • I noticed I was smiling as I watched this video. Somehow Henry captured the pure joy of driving...

I think this is one of the most important videos for the car community in recent memory. Perfectly said Carfection. Long live the manual, long live.
  • I fully agree- instant isn’t better, more robotic or digital isn’t better, and easier or more convenient is certainly not better. Removing the physical and mental connection to objects and processes creates a hollow experience. This goes for everything from cars to relationships across social media. Without meaningful interaction, the things that make us human are cheapened.

I think this may be my favourite piece of automotive content I've ever watched. I keep coming back to it. It gets better every time.

That coffee comparison and how it was shot was pure cinematic brilliance. I literally watched that 5x, went and went and hugged my car. Thank you for this. You expressed the love of the manual gearbox in such a precise and poetic way!

I love the analogy of "instant" coffee not necessarily a better coffee than a properly brewed/barista'd coffee, when describing the PDK and Manual gearbox shifts. Well said sir. Well said.

I had a manual Golf GTI as a company car and did 140k over 4 years and every time I stepped out of it, I would look back and say to myself, I love my car. I replaced it with another GTI, a DSG this time, and its become just another car. I like it, I don’t love it. No surprise that it’s getting replaced with a manual Golf R. Each transmission has its place, and sadly the manual will likely not be with us for too much longer. To those who have never experienced a MT, you will never understand what you missed.

Man ... that edit !! tears on my face !

I just listen to this with my eyes closed. The cinematography is beautiful of course, but even without that, the commentary, the well worded metaphors and highly appropriate voice modulation gives it a rather artistic form. Poetic.

Wow. What a glorious combination of words, images and sounds. I have no experience with filming but I am sure some of the camera angles and editing take quite some effort. Thank you, guys, for going that extra mile, purely for our viewing pleasure! Brilliant, work! Also thanks to Porsche #savethemanuals

Probably the greatest YouTube car video ever made. It's flawless, but unlike pdk, it's impactful and characterful, and breathtaking to watch.
