I own a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and also an old 1998 Porsche 911 996 generation with 70,000 miles on the clock. The list price of the 992 GT3 RS is £250,000 but my 996 is worth about £25,000 - following a bunch of modifications I've done to it which are designed to make it more like a GT3 to drive. In this video I find out if my real GT3 RS is actually 10 time better than my old 996.

  • Space wise this is the thing. If your taking a GT3 RS out to holiday, your single and can place the suitcase on the passenger seat, if you have a partner, you dont have the money to own a GT3 Rs

It'd be cool to see the 992 GT3 RS vs the first GT3 RS

250k. But couldn't cover the entire dash in alcantara because of a shortage. The WHEELS cost as much as an entire other functioning car, but they couldn't... Bro. I'm sorry, I can't. It's cool and all, but this is insane.

If you're not a track regular, the RS is really a vanity item, bar the once every few months when you notice or get to push it a bit on a challenging empty road.

996 is one of the best sports cars you can buy… small, brilliant steering and the perfect amount of power for the road. Modern stuff is far too powerful and has way too much grip to get anywhere near the limits on public roads.

I kept the 17" for durability and comfort. Proceed to change suspension and bushings 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Nice comparison. The GT3 RS is an absolute beast of a car but the 996 definitely still has its place. I have a Hartech 4.1L in my 996 which puts out the same power & torque as the base spec 992 carrera. Love the way it gets down the road.

Matt the tyre sealant goes under the higher cover under the bonnet. There is place to Velcro it. It doesn’t need to go in the glovebox
  • Hi Matt, you really shouldn’t use harnesses on the road, and without a hans system. It puts far too much strain on the head / neck in the event of an impact. Normal seatbelts are much better for road use for the neck in any impact.
  • Love your own channel videos so much + your car collection, specifically the boxter and gt3rs

The sound from my 996 is utterly addictive. I hunt high walls and tunnels just to hear that raw, raspy, sound, cutting through the air 🎵
  • @Aktivek
I would love to have both in my garage. Still pretty satisfied with my 987 boxster, btw , keep the 996 until you die, its a classic

I can't believe mat watson reviews his own cars he bought, he usually tells a company to give him a car for reviews because he could thrash cars that wasn't his, but when he reviewed his own car, he is very gentle
  • @thewatersavior
We need an episode of Mat daily driving the GT3RS to pick up baby supplies etc, but its a time attack and he can only shop at Costco
  • @PhantomMark
I reckon the 992 GT3-RS looks sensational, without ruining the history of everything before it, all Pork 911's have been awesome in their own way.

    I own a 996.2 in Cobalt blue. I think it’s aged beautifully
