Louis Lunch in New Haven, CT is in the national food registry as the birthplace of the Original Hamburger! I fortunately live only about 10 minutes from here and have been eating these for over 20 years!!

You only get a few choices here- Plain Hamburger, Onion, Onion Cheese or loaded with Onion, Cheese and tomoato. They are always cooked medium rare and there is only 1 rule - NO KETCHUP!!!!!!!

Never could figure out why my grandpa served hamburgers with onion cooked in the oven on white bread. This place is on the way to Thompson motorspeedway in CT. Go Jeff fuller

would hit this place every friday and saturday night in the 90's after going to Demery's or any of the other clubs we were going to at that time - Louis' stayed open late and the burgers and "salad" tastes so good - Great times, great memories, great food.

Hey Zeek. I actually stopped by a couple of weeks ago, but then decided to go to Frank Pepe's. Kids wanted pizza instead. This is still on my list though.

Im from Texas, and loved this place. I wanted to try the original but I’ll definitely ask for well done patty next time. Great place. Carved my last name on history.
