By the way, have you ever heard 'Married on a hill' by AJR? Their label accidentally released it for a few days a couple years back, but it was a track which was supposed to be on Living Room. Very wholesome

maaan i just let out the biggest sigh as soon as I put the song on. The last thing I needed to give me any hope for this album was a millennial sea shanty. I will still hold out hope for at least one song I enjoy in any manner. 😅(dies inside)

I am on the line of loving it and liking it. The ending was weird and kind of neat, I feel like it was “we want to pitch down so we will!” It was an ok ending, but DEFINITELY not something I am freaking out about. The rest of the song was kind of fun, I can vibe with it. The snippet from the opening track was promising, I’ll say, and the Touchy Feely Fool snippet. We will wait and see, of course. Also, they should have just held off on releasing this song honestly. 4 singles is more than enough and hype for the album is waning from 10 to a 7 due to hearing half of the album already. Like I’m a fan, and the songs I like, but I’m just worried that I won’t be as excited for the album because half the songs I have heard. We will see, and I am still excited since I like who they are as people and I like their music. Also, I will DEFINITELY check out your album :)

I wanted to like the song but I think the early snippets kinda ruined it for me. Everytime it went from snippets to new material I felt jarring because I was so used to the snippets in isolation.

As an AJR fan song this is probably my least favourite of the singles on the new album. I like a lot of music spanning from pretty much every genre, popular to unpopular, well reviewed and badly reviewed (kinda just dumb luck that AJR somehow doesn't get on my nerves) but I'm willing to admit when they missed the mark for me. This is one of those times. DJ is so far my favorite of the new stuff but I guess we'll see how long that lasts. Great review as always!

I actually like this song because the lyrics are representing two things One it represents Jack and how he sees his life at the moment and Two Superman because the lyrics Yes I’m a mess with an S on my chest is them talking about Superman how his life is very stressful and how if anybody else was in his shoes they would be in not but stressed out everyday so I think they song and it’s meaning is not like the ordinary but it’s a very interesting way of thinking

this definitely did not work for me. I'm finally understanding what people are saying about them going way too far over the top. honestly, i did not like this at all. like you said, the end section wasn't bad and was actually pretty cool. but this song was hard to listen to.

An Ajr fan since the click and man can I tell you, TMM has been a major let down following oko and personally I hate most of the TMM released songs :/

This song is very weird. Large improvement from all their previous singles for this album and previous ones. The ending didn't hit for me. It was weird. Reminded me of those TikTok slow mo song remix trends. I will say though, the trailer for this album, it does a pitched slow down like in this song, so I'm thinking there's a storyline throughout this album.

From the perspective of just a general observer: it sounded like something they've done a million times. Each part felt super predictable, the music, the lyrics, everything. But, again, I'm not a fan so maybe I missed things that show they've progressed that others would pick up, but yeahhhh... not good imo

The majority of the song was good but honestly the end was meh for me, even as an AJR fan. Maybe if it was in the beginning or even the middle (but not as long of a segment), but as the last part of the song it made it feel like it was a last minute thing or was added on just to add it and that is why it feel out of place. The rest of the song is a 7/10, but the ending (I'm choosing to separate it because of how disconnected it is to me) is a 4/10. The Dumb Song is an 8/10 for me because of how catchy it is and I could be biased because I relate to it in how I am and see myself

My guess is there are some really good songs in this album it's just that this kind of song isn't your kind of vibe because everyone has there type of music and what they like i'm sure others will love this song or hate it either way we can't judge we all have are opinions
