I'm sorry but Pogacar spent the last four Tours, whether he won them or not, chasing a freak show Visma team seemingly by himself. So, if he wants to incinerate the field this year let him do it. 2025 will see a recovered Vingegaard and a reloaded Visma. No stage is guaranteed and this rivalry is too intense for presents.

TP would have disrespected the work of his team if he gifted the stage. The best man won.

There are no gifts in racing, other than to your teammates. You show class by waiting for your rival when they crash etc. But you don't gift them stages. That's actually disrespectful. Belittling even. You stand tall next to them and wait for them to get to you and stand beside you. People that want someone to gift stuff to others don't want to work for their stuff either.

Gifting a stage to his biggest rival, not a chance, yes he should be greedy for wins, they are hard earned

Cycling can be so strange. Sprinters (like Philipsen last year) can win multiple stages and no one says a thing, but Tadej wins (no gifts) and it is a problem. In any other sport no one would gift away their wins. Lastly, Pogacar did not want to contest for the win, but coming to the line with his main rival what should he do? I think gifting Jonas the stage is disrespectful.

Both Lemond and Armstrong have publicly stated on multiple occasions they regret those gifts. You need to give full context if you want to represent historical precedent. Merckx was a born killer, to insinuate Pogi is atypical or naive to cycling history is straight bias team.

Giving someone a win is 'disrepectful'. It implies that you couldn't do it yourself with your own skill. Gifting someone on another team a win is ridiculous. Pogacar's sponsors would be outraged. Also, Pog did lose a TDF in a TT so I don't blame him that he wants more time and to push his competitors just before the TT.

There is no tradition of gifting wins to your biggest rival in GC. The common thing would be to let the break go, and have an easy day in the GC group, which is a kind of gift. But if some of the GC guys go for it, then the others need to try also.

My big fear going into this year's TdF was that Cav would be "gifted" a 35th stage win. I was so happy when he 100% earned it! Same to Tadej and Jonas, they both earned every stage win. As it should be.

The GC rider will sometimes gift a stage win to encourage others to ride for time. In this case Jonas was riding for time. There was no need to give him anything.

No gifts. I would love to see Pog beat Cav's record. Class? Don't forget Jonas attacked his own teammate iin the leader's jersey in the Vuelta last year.

Jonas and Visma have kicked Pogacar from pillar to post at every opportunity the last 2 tdf's. This has been a revenge tour for Pogacar. I believe without the Remco, Jonas to and frow he would have let Carapaz and Mas duke it out for the stage.

Race radios - simple solution. Each team has two bands. One that only goes to the riders. another that is broadcast to the media too. Even delayed, having someone have access to your communication opens up all sorts of issues. How hard would it be for that communication to end up sent to a team. it's just not smart. And honestly...it doesn't add much . Id rather on bike cams or audio so that riders can talk to media if they want. That'd be amazing...and would be a great way to fill boring flat stages if it was filled with finding out more about different riders. Heck you could almost do a pass the parcel where a little camera is passed through the peloton. That would be AMAZING!!!

What a terrible take on gifting. Couldn’t disagree more. No gift wins unless to honor a teammate’s work.
