The price of honor. The power of friendship. THE KARATE KID, Part II. Ralph Macchio and Noriyuki "Pat" Morita re-create the roles that brought them international acclaim in The Karate Kid. Karate student, Daniel Larusso (Macchio), accompanies his wise and whimsical teacher, Mr. Miyagi (Morita), to his ancestral home in Okinawa. For the boy, it's a journey to an exotic new world offering new clues to his mentor's secret past. For Miyagi, it's an opportunity to see his father one last time and tore kindle a romance with his childhood sweetheart (Nobu McCarthy). But Miyagi's return also re-ignites a bitter feud with long-time enemy, Sato (Danny Kamekona) - a feud that involves young Daniel in a brilliant collision of cultures and combat. Now, far away from the tournaments, the cheering crowds and the safety of home, Daniel will face his greatest challenge ever when teacher becomes student and the price of honor is life itself.

  • Can you imagine the call to Daniel's mom if Chozen had won? "Mrs. LaRusso, Miyagi here. Weather nice today here in Okinawa. I regret to inform you that Daniel-San is dead."
  • @ricros891
"Daniel-Son, this Not tournament ... This for Real. So if you need to pick up a brick or statute or something to throw at his head, you Do it!!" 😂🤣
  • 36 years later both of them sing Eye of the Tiger with Johnny in a limo driven by Mike Barnes

"No more tournaments, no more referees, no more cheering crowds, But this time, the combat is real!"

i love how every ending, miyagi looks on daniel san like a proud father to his kid.

Never realized how good of a fight scene this is. For most of it, no music or cheesiness. Really does a good job showing the contrast between this and the first movie with the tournament ending.
  • In hindsight, sparing Chozen was the BEST decision Daniel-san has ever made.
  • "Live or die, man" is probably still my favorite Daniel line

You can really feel the difference between the final fight in the first movie and this one. In the first movie Johnny is just trying to win and prove a point to Daniel but in this movie Chozen is out for blood. The tone shift is awesome and it adds more tension.

It really emphasises the power of chozen, that the crane kick which was such a powerful and significant move in the first one, is just so easily countered and stopped. It is also in the middle of the fight and not just as a finisher

Daniel, Chozen and Kumiko reunited 34 years later. Daniel and Chozen joined forces against Cobra Kai.
  • When the universe thought that life was over. We watch this and Karate Kid 2; we still feel like we are part of it back in the 80s.
  • @BlackJaxxx
LOL 5:16 Chozen was like "Nah, I saw Karate Kid part 1" :)
  • I get chills every time @03:36 when Miyagi tells Daniel that this is not a tournament this is for real.
  • @DougieYT
And now decades later they were epic and badass friends and partners🔥.
  • Ralph Maccio is a legend in Karate kid. In Cobra kai, all the characters are legends (Johnny, Daniel, Hawk, Miguel, Robby, Tory, Sam, Chozen, Mike), every nice characters

Wife: how did you get that jar open? Me: Drum technique.
  • Miyagi taught Daniel the Drum Technique, Sato didn't teach Chozen that technique. When Miyagi pulls out the drum , Sato knows Chozen is at a disadvantage and pulls his drum out as well. It was the only way for Daniel to defeat Chozen . Brutal, poetic and well executed scene!

And Daniel is more scared in a tournament match with Mike Barnes after this. Primary reason karate kid 3 failed.

The Drum technique has always been a personal favorite to me. I know it's not as iconic as the Crane Kick but from a tactical, last-ditch effort, blocking and countering at close quarters is more useful. The Kata would be my 2nd favorite.
