I always liked how the film immediately puts you in the POV of it's antagonist, asking you to see things from his perspective. Also the touch of showing the mayor play with his son. It's a small thing, but it shows how despite his corruption, he loves and is loved by his family - he's fallible but not evil. It just gives him a bit more as a character.

Took my mother to see it, she's not a comic book movie fan, she absolutely loved it, I walked in her house the other day and herd her on the phone telling her friends how great a movie it is

The “fear is a tool” and “I am the shadows” monologue is one of the best parts of this movie to me. We’ve always got a sense that people were scared of Batman in a lot of movies, or at least wary of him… But in this, just the idea of Batman POSSIBLY walking out of that dark alleyway or that shady spot has men scared… To the point where fear has done half of the job for him. To see these people more scared of the bat signal more than a police helicopter above them screams how fear has infected the scum of the city… At least, the lower level of scum. Ugh, it’s just so cool. I really hope we get a second movie with this level of quality.

And people really was saying he’s a terrible choice … he’s perfect I never can stand people that judge before seeing and the theme is beautifully done

This opening monologue and Battinson's entry is pure art!
  • I literally can quote the whole opening scene 💀 that's how many times I've actually seen this movie

The slow footsteps approaching is definitely something so unique yet it blends in with Batman so well... Writers really nailed their vision..... Such a wonderful experience...
  • 2:47 That part where The Riddler is hidden in the shadows, until the glare of the tv is bright, gave me chills in the theatre. Him standing there still, gives me horror movie killers like Michael Myers.

This movie left me satisfied. I don’t like too many jokes, I don’t like too much melodrama or romcom dialogue. I like subtle and “minimalist” emotion. Makes it feel more real to me.
  • Who else thinks Robert Pattinson killed it as the Batman?! I honestly critiqued him when it was announced that he'll be the next Batman but man, I'm so glad I was wrong. This man deserves his own trilogy

Riddler's POV shot with that creepy breathing is something straight from the giallo movie. Amazing!

The opening of this movie was insane. I watched the whole movie and it's, in my opinion, one of the best Batman movies ever made. It's so different from the other superhero movies, it's more horrifying and dark. If you like thriller movies like I do, this is the one to watch.
  • 8:08 is the essence of Batman. He can't be everywhere, all the time, but his legend inspires so much fear, that's his legacy, it's his greatest strength
  • A small detail I loved is that they made Batman feel HEAVY. Pounding footsteps coming out of the shadows, like he's a monster. AFAIK that effect hasn't really been used before, as directors tend to focus on the "ninja-like" aspects of the caped crusadrer. Was a cool unique take.

“Two years of night’s, have turned me into a nocturnal animal” AMAZING!

Absolutely incredible monologue, I still listen to it every now and then
  • If this 10 minutes is anything to go by I gotta see this movie. That introduction to Batman was masterfully done. The slow "tick-tock" of heavy steps, as if Death himself is walking up the stairs, the inexorable march towards impending doom, the countdown to beatdown. Like a killer stalking their prey a la Michael Myers, except with the roles reversed. Vengeance has arrived, and it's here to collect. Brilliant film making.
  • I can never get over how Batman is introduced in this movie. We see how criminals see him before we see him for ourselves. They're not just afraid of him as a guy who might come and beat them up. They are afraid of him the way that a little kid is afraid of the monster in their closet. It's that kind of fear. That kind of sheer, paralyzing terror. Brilliant.
