Thank you Dr. Berry for another very useful video. My husband and I started eating the Keto lifestyle approx 5 weeks ago. We have both lost a few pounds and feel much better removing the excess carbs from our diet. However yesterday I went to see my GP. When she started on me yet again about my weight, she FREAKED when I told her I was doing Keto. Now, I'm scared that this is not the right path for me or my husband. We are both in our 60's, have done our research on the Keto lifestyle, watched your videos along with several other informed doctors so we felt we could do this!. We have adapted to it very easily. Well, except he does really miss his sweet treats. My question, what in the heck do I say to my own physician when she is so against this type of lifestyle? She gave us 3 months to continue but sent me home with lab requisitions for cholesterol blood work to be done. Your opinion or comment?

I have been a registered ct tech for more than ten years. I see fatty liver on scans every day. The radiologists rarely ever comment on it. I also have had fatty liver disease for most of my life. My lab work continued to come back with a slightly elevated enzymes (ast and alt) for more than 15 years. When I asked the doctor about it. . . It was very evident that he didn't know what it meant. Two different doctors told me it was nothing to be concerned about. My liver was HUGE. My stomach was big and round. Four years ago I got a goiter and my endocrinologist told me to go gluten free. My liver enzymes got better! 2 months ago I decided to go keto. . . Partially from watching your videos 😁 my liver shrank so fast! Before I even lost weight, I had to change to smaller scrubs! Makes me wonder if I had ascites . . But thank you so much for all your information!!! And by the way my enzymes are normal now!

Tests: Complete metabolic panel CMP , GGT, C Peptide , Hemoglobin A1c, Ultrasound of abdomen or CAT scan. Have Radiologist comment on presence or absence of Fatty Liver.

In 2009, my cardiologist asked if I had any chest pains. I told him no, but I bent over the other day and got a pain below my diaphragm. Being cautious, he sent me to another doctor who performed a Gastro Exam, Endoscopy and CT Scan of Abdomen. That doctor told me I had fatty liver and mild colonicdiverticulosis. He wanted to take my gall bladder out until I told him the pain only happened when I bent over to pull some weeds. He told me to lose 30 pounds and come back and see him in a month. WHAT??? How is one supposed to lose 30 pounds in a month. He never told me how to fix my fatty liver. Thank you for these instructions. You're the first doctor who has told me how to resolve my fatty liver problem.

I found out a few weeks ago I have fatty liver. I’m insulin resistant too. I’ve been doing keto for 3 months so my doctor said by 12 months is should be almost 100% better. 🤞🤞

Thank you for this video. My mother and uncle both died of cirrhosis caused by fatty liver disease. One in 2003, one in 2009, both before their 65th birthday. At that time no one would believe they weren't drunks. I am so glad that this is common knowledge these days. I had it too, but reversed it with Keto.

To check for Fatty Liver Disease, have your doctor run a complete metabolic panel. Also a GGT test. Also a C Peptide test. And a Hb A1C test. Then, an imaging test, non-radiating preferred, like ultrasound. Have your doctor ask the radiologist to comment on what he/she sees on the ultrasound or CT scan of your abdominal organs, especially your liver and pancreas. Dr. Berry says that radiologists see so many fatty livers on scans now that they consider it “normal,” and so they may not comment on it. You want the radiologist to especially comment if she/he sees any fat in the pancreas and/or liver.
  • My wife has a fatty liver. Has had ultrasounds and a liver biopsy. Wife was told years ago she had a fatty liver but nothing about it or what it does, just go on a low fat diet. Now (years later) they are all up in arms about her fatty liver after an er visit for something else they noticed the fatty liver and told her to get liver checked specifically. She has lost weight and is eating better. She watched your 5 things to avoid and took good notes. Last biopsy mentioned regenerative cells, we hope this means improvement.

Just diagnosed with fatty liver and the start of all the "what is going on" testing for me was high iron level in regular blood test. Have done the ultrasound, CT and MRI with the final result being elevated to significant levels of fat on the liver. Fortunate for me my doc isn't a magic pill / surgery type and she flat out told me keto diet is the only proven way to reverse.
  • I have had CT Scans that show fatty liver problems. I also have several cysts on the liver as well. I have been on a KETO based diet for about a month and I am seeing positive changes in how I feel. Thanks so much for your videos. I am learning an enormous amount of information!!
  • Your videos are wonderfully presented. Authentic logical and especially hopeful and so so empowering. Thank you for your honesty.
  • @berrysweet2321
A lot of Doctors don't do these extra tests you're talking about like ct scans and MRI unless you're really sick. Even the blood work is basic. I'm going to ask for the ones you mentioned. Thanks for a very informative video. You're educating a lot of people.

During my annual physical a few weeks ago, my MD palpated my liver, and stated that it seems to be enlarged, which was not noted a year ago. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, which has been controlled with diet alone. But in the past 6 months or so, I went off my ketogenic diet and indulged in sugary, starchy foods, knowing full well that I was not supposed to eat them on a regular basis, but only once in awhile. I have a liver/pancreas/gall bladder ultrasound scheduled next week. Your videos on fatty liver have been an eye opener! My wife is resistant to eating a keto diet and giving up her sweets and starches - - thankfully for me, she turned the kitchen and cooking over to me about a year ago, so I at least have that going for me. I just have to quit eating candy, sweet pastries and bread, and potato chips which were my downfall this past 6 months. As a retired nurse, I should know better, but I plead being human with faults and foibles!

  • @4311446
Really informative video. Thanks for the effort.
  • Thank you,Dr. Berry. I was diagnosed with mild/ moderate fatty liver, and I have learned more from you, than the GI ASSOCIATES have told me. I have been doing everything wrong, because I didn't know. Grains, Tylenol, etc., I've never stopped till now. Thank you so much. You're a life saver👍🙏💖
  • Please, help with low blood pressure! Thank you very much for your work.
  • The big belly, the type 2 diabetes, over weight, metabolic syndrome, that's me...! I want this test done. I've been fighting this mess for over 10 years and the doctors haven't been a lot of help, even the dietitian and nutritionists didn't say to not eat wheat products. What I've learned I've had to study on my own. I appreciate that you're telling people the truth.
