Well paint me purple and call me a transformer because I am shocked
  • Brainiac{ I collect a worlds greatest city, then destroy the rest. Shockwave{ You collect the sum, but not the whole. That is illogical. You will not take Cybertron.

Shockwave: “Your logic is flawed. Your mission has no endpoint, your goal cannot be attained, and any progress can be undone by a malevolent third party. It…is illogical. My mission does have an end. It can be completed. I assign all life an equal, objective value… Zero.”
  • The title is honestly ironic, because Braniac isn't logical. He likes to say he is but in no universe is stuffing cities to entire planets into bottles a good form of preservation.

Wiz: Brainiac: One of the most powerful intellectual foes from DC Comics. Boomstick: And Shockwave: One of Megatron's most badass Decepticons. Wiz: When you wanna conquer a planet or an entire universe, Power alone just isnt enough. You also need to have the brains to back up that power. Boomstick: It doesn't matter if your a powerful kryptonian or a kickass Autobot, these 2 are willing to prove that Brains are indeed better than Brawn. He's Wiz & I'm Boomstick. Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor & skills to find out who will win a Death Battle!

You officially feature more DC characters than Marvel Marvel Captain America Sandman Infinity Ultron DC Clayface Superman Black Flash Superman [x2] Plastic Man Brainiac
  • It'd take a real brainiac to figure out the winner to this shocking battle
  • Both are emotionless alien beings, that like get smarter and kill anything without remorse, but Shockwave is a lot more terrifying than Brainiac!
  • I love how the standard Brainiac match up that everyone wanted used to be Ultron vs Brainiac, but now in the year 2024, we all agree that Brainiac vs Shockwave is the better MU.
  • Hey there, commissioner here! Few things I want to say One, thanks so much to Aaron for accepting my commission and cooking super hard with it. The vibe is perfect for both the match and the characters involved, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Best of luck and stay strong with the Rooster Teeth news, both you and Yates. Second, thanks to Tyrannii for the track art. I had a specific vision in mind for the track art of this matchup and was unsure how it'd come out, but he made a fantastic cover art. And in general, shout out to all the artists cooking hard with the track art for these commissions, they deserve a lot of credit. And third, why I chose this matchup? I like it it's cool :) Thanks again so much for this!
  • For some reason when I saw the name Shockwave I'm just like: "That's another Transformers Character right?" I've never seen Transformers get ao much love ever since Galactus vs Unicron came out.
  • It's only logical that it's competing against Brainiac VS Ultron for becoming the most wanted Brainiac MU.

The brain is powerful, the mind is mighty. One of the many core aspects of intelligence is logic. Also, this is amazing. I never thought synthwave could sound so evil and powerful. It could fit nicely in the TRON: Legacy soundtrack.

The sinister sounding electronic/ aggressive dubstep beat represents these two characters perfectly. Amazing work as always, Therewolf!

The layering here really helps to make this track so HEAVY and powerful, I absolutely love it! Techno and electro-synth with this cold, industrial might to it throughout really fits well with both characters' cold, hyper logical ideologies and domineering presence. It really does remind me of a track I'd DEFINITELY would fit right in place as boss music in a Transformers game or an intense fight scene in a sci-fi movie (something like Tron?). Absolute banger, mate! As always!

Another Transformers track, yay. I mean, I don't really care for the matchup altho I recognize it makes sense, I guess you could even say that it's logical . But regardless of that I was really hyped for this matchup for two main reasons. The first one being that evil techno music sounds like a great idea and second one being that I was really hoping this track would include bits from Transformers: Devastation's Shockwave theme which is simply fantastic (if you haven't listened to it, do yourself a favor and listen to Transformers Devastation's OST, it's amazing). Well in the end the track absolutely doesn't include Shockwave's theme from Devastation. But in the end I also still really freaking like the track as a whole. It wonderfully captures that "composed evil" feeling fitting of the characters. It absolutely radiates antagonism and power but it also feels extremely focused and composed due to a mix of two things. The first one is that at only at very few points does the track have more than two instruments playing at once, making the track feel almost "bare", like it's making do with only the bare essentials. Because, after all, what fits better two characters who strive for the most efficient solutions than to have only a few instruments do most of the track's job at once. It is only logical. And the second thing that adds to that feeling is how the track flows as a whole. Of course as said just before the fact that it only has few instruments playing at once helps it a lot but in general the song feels very composed with relatively calm main melodies that never reach very high. The only things that actually reach quite high are the percussions that give all the power and weight to the track. This whole entire dynamic of having the soft and calm synth melodies punctuated by extremely powerful electronic percussions gives the track a true feeling of "tranquil fury" to the song. You can absolutely tell that those two are absurdly powerful individuals but you can also feel like they're very strategic and not outright agressive individuals. Sure they're twisted and evil but not in a brutal way. It almost makes you feel like those two aren't actually evil which is a great thing to have the track convey because, in a way, they aren't as both their respective goals in most continuities they appear in aren't fundamentally bad, just how they execute them that is. All of that results in the track having a very distinct and unique personality that feels extremely fitting of the characters. I mean, the track very easily could have just been "villain track but electronic music" but instead Therewolf went above and beyond to make it really feel not just like "villain track but electronic music" track but a dedicated Shockwave VS Brainiac track. Frankly there's ironically not much else I can comment on the track aside from what I said, it's so effective at doing what it strives to do that it perfectly fits the characters in that it's simple but perfectly efficient: there's very little "superfluous"/secondary additions to the track that I can note. It's such an ironic showcase of Therewolf's great music writing that it's to comical not to note. Overall this track is pretty much exactly what it should be. Sure I'm a tiny bit bummed out it doesn't reference Shockwave's Devastation theme but I really can't fault the song because it actually ends up being better as it is because of how perfectly it fits the characters and what they stand for. And of course that while also sounding amazing and catchy as all hell. Really there's not much else to note on this track. The Logical Conclusion to all of this is that this is an amazing job as always.
