At the end, you can see how the dead child’s body is still in the rotting process. If we’re getting scientific here, the body was left in a forest which is usually somewhat moist and lush. In this climate and environment, bodies take only about 3 weeks or so to decompose. In the flashback to the previous Halloween, they were still alive. That child died very recently.

I remember I saw this video as a kid, it traumatized me, but now that i am watching this again it feels VERY different.

i believe he found her body in the woods, in that very position, and then imagined her as a friend because he couldn't cope with what he found, and then returned to her at the end of the video through the open gate he already knew was there

Watched this a few times back and forth and really, the storytelling is amazing. I love how the wrapper was used as a psuedo-text box and because the girl is dead, her wrapper always says the same thing. That added so many layers of sadness because you can imagine how she most probably got lost in the forest, sprung the trap by accident after carefully avoiding so many before, and had to crawl towards the closest tree in tremendous pain and agony. As she struggles to sit up and rest on her back, she tried shouting for help but no one came. In an effort to distract herself from all the pain, fear and suffering, she reached for a candy and ate it. In a twisted irony, the wrapper says, "You found me", and she died holding onto it. All that storytelling in the final 2 cuts. It's brilliant.

The girl didn’t lead the boys to her body for him to find it, she led him there to prove to everyone that she wasn’t imaginary.............

Despite the ending being really dark and sad, at the same time, I found it somehow wholesome, knowing that she has someone by her side who genuinely cares for her and treated her like how any real-life friend would, even though she was dead.

She was no imaginary friend she was a spirit that wanted to show the kid the truth she wanted to show him where her body was so they could finally meet

The sad part about this is that there's a whole bunch of other kids that are missing too.

this story still hits hard in 2024, i remember watching it in 2016, also regarding the theories some say the girl died a year prior to doesnt make sense as in the end the corpse looked too fresh to be so also in the beginning theres foreshadowing with the bear trap mark on her leg
