Automobilista 2 crept up on me like a little domesticated kitten and has now evolved into a fully grown, all consuming predatory tiger. Love it!

Reinstalled the game a few weeks ago after 2 years without being aware of (or even thinking about) updates. I started driving an offline race and felt kind of overwhelmed with the overall immersion. Even asked myself "why did i stop playing this back then?" Yes - this is how good the improvement due to the updates really is.
  • if game devs bothered to ask sim racers what you want in a sim racing title you would get, physics and monitor setup of RF2 + Sounds and feedback of ACC + multiplayer system of Iracing + Visual quality, weather system and VR of AMS2 + modability of Assetto corsa = Perfect sim racing game
  • I waited until the V1.5 update to buy in so I can't compare it to past versions, but I like it a lot. The most recent tweaks to the tire models and AI have made it better. I'm looking forward to the forthcoming "latin flavoured" DLC.
  • @eKlasik
A little plug for Racecraft Online, they're already doing LFM style daily races for AMS2 👍
  • @bullshark1152
Yeah if you like simracing you should buy it and preferably a VR set s well. By the way, the Madness engine was build with VR in mind. That is probably why it performs so well In VR. It was one of the first race titles who chose the right path, the path of VR.
  • @kunal3d
If only it had save during midrace. Just because of this missing feature I am unable to do full 6h or 24h races. Rest all is super polished and great content.
  • @4rPekro
For every simracer AMS2 is mandatory.
  • @BOBOTHEBANDIT
Defo buy it reiza have really transformed the madness engine and its great

Thanks for the detailed video review. For the little time I have gotten into AMS 2 I really like the racing game. I also do majority of my racing games with VR and now have the Quest 3.. I am still learning the game and there is a content manager that I want to check out and see what that provides for me far as any additional tracks and cars in AMS 2. Thanks again and take care.

Genuinely amazed that the AI made it into your positives list. Their comparative difference between performance levels across not only different classes, but also different tracks while using the same settings is nothing short of frustrating. Even if you do get them to the correct level in terms of lap times, the disparity in their speed in various parts of the track to the player is at best laughable and at worst chaotic. The human community is better than you’ll find in most sims, but this is likely due to the fact that it is so niche, were it to expand then I’m sure the quality would also suffer so it’s a bit naive to suggest a ranked system would suddenly make it the best sim ever 🤷‍♂️
  • @JaggedMercenary
Been sim racing for 10 years. AMS2 is the best sim racing game ever made for me. I still have AC cos I love hillclimbs and you can download a million of them. If AMS2 finally supports modding completely, AC is finished.
  • @matiaz0
I used to love ams2 since 1.5, but now i don't know what they have done, but the lmhd feels terrible, like GT cars, the rotation feels terrible loosing the back like never....
  • @hubtubby
Good review, Ive just gone back to project cars 2 after the awkwardness of VR with Assetto Corsa. I read this is pretty much the proper project cars 3, I hope there's some sort of campaign mode
  • @eddynoneck
I took 2 years out from any pc gaming as had newborn. I mostly raced pc2 at the time but did try ams2. 2 years on and my toddler more independant i thought id scratch my itch for sim racing so dusted off the pc, over spent on new rig (fanatec f1 bundle dd1, p1x pro and quest 3) bit of a upgrade from g29 and 4x2 on a desk. Anyhow sadly pc2 has no community so thought id try ams2 again and so glad i did, its defo a whole different beast from 2 years ago. Do need to upgrade my gpu though
  • @PhilipMarcYT
Oh, my bad. I confused Automobiilista 2 with Auto Modelista... Different titles, just a bit similar. I thought this was somehow a sequel to AM which left me confused as AM had cel shaded graphics and Gran Turismo sound effects. 😅
  • @pitarinha
I would say if someone is into VR, AMS2 is a good choice. Also if you just want a nice singleplayer experience with good Ai and quite easy to drive cars (even on controller) you should consider buying it. For me, after around 320h the magic of AMS2 is already gone and I am fully back to Assetto Corsa. I personally never liked the graphics and imho a fully modded AC looks way better. I am still buying the DLCs for AMS2 just to support the developer but thats it. Maybe I will come back to AMS2 when they finally release the singleplayer career and they should also do something about all the bugs which are there since the beginning. To be honest for me AMS2 is still an early access title and far away from being a finished game.
  • @ryerye3147
I enjoy the amount of tracks, some cars are fantastic, others not as much.. but with the content manager and mods it’s definitely gotten better.
  • It used to be my best SIM with more hours than any other SIM I drove but somehow I don't enjoy it as I did. It doesn't seem so realistic as it used to be. Anyone has this issue?
