4 laps and beats my all time best by 3 seconds - I give up.
  • @EthanDean57
It handles ever so slightly funny, but it still has me going back for more. Time-trialling is a lot of fun, and the presets make it nice and easy to jump in to any sort of AI race you want without having to do a bunch of setup. Also, the graphics-to-performance ratio of the Madness engine is astounding; it looks so good but runs so well. I love AMS 2; sure it doesn't handle as well as AMS 1, AC or even iRacing, but I'm at the point where I've stopped giving a shit about that stuff provided I'm getting an enjoyable experience.

The historic content in this game is extremely good, lot of old tracks and cars to try out. Group C and the GT1's are great. There's also a lot of cars and tracks from South America unique to the game which are fantastic (Curitiba and Goiânia being my favourite tracks, P1 cars are good fun)

The best content in AMS2 is definitely the classic open wheelers, closely followed by the Brazilian stock cars and the various prototypes. I just can't get away with the GT cars in the game. They all seem so tail happy. Overall though it is a great game especially for single player racers. The variable weather and time of day are some of the best in any racing game.

The new Formula Hitech (which is season 1992/93) on historic tracks are a great combo. Loads of driving aid gadgets in that era.
  • Very nice video. I just want to share my experience. I love AMS2 because I find the underlying physical platform being much more dynamic and alive that all other sims, and very nicely responsing to setups. What I don't like is how the vehicles drive with default setups, especially gt3s. To all who complain about "slideyness" of gt3s (in particular 911 gen1, 911 gen2, mclaren), but also sauber c9, bmw procar, gt4, me group A.... please try just reducing LSD clutch plate number from the defualt setup, from 6 to 2 (or 4). This changed the feeling massively to me and the cars (now more push-understeery on corner exits) feel much more connected, reliable, predictable and according to my expectations of realism.

Loved the editing style on this mate. great Commentary, humour, skill and nicely edited. Enjoyed mate!

I'm doing sim racing over 22 years. (Once professionally, now for fun). Got AMS1 and it felt like an epic rF1 upgrade, or what my beloved rF1 was missing, AMS1 had. So I enjoyed it a lot! When AMS2 got out, I bought it the very same day, only to try it out 1 week ago, and enjoyed it a lot. I posted a video of my first VR GT race at an unknown track, and would be coming these days back to it asap!

I don't play AMS2 very often because the online is not good, but in terms of physics, I think it's the closest one to the real life onboard footage. The way the car reacts to bumps (funny how people complain about that, when that's exactly how real life footage looks like), the rear end being loose enough (real GT3 cars are not so sticked to the ground as in ACC, for example) or even the (turbo?) noise changing its pitch with the compression and extension of the suspension. I know James has real life experience and it's top class sim racer, but I'm sure every real life car feels different and we are all too used to the "standard" simulators, that when one tries something different, we look at it as it was wrong when maybe it's not.
  • ASM2 really shines with classic cars like Group C on 2000s Spa or Le Mans with scripted weather going from dry-wet-dry in dusk or dawn. Thats an experience you cannot get with any oher sim. Also VR is AMAZING in this one. If I just wanna hop in and have fun for couple of laps, AMS2 is my way to go
  • @JTs_Garage_
Im with ya for sure! Ive been racing in AMS2 for like 3 days or so? Less then 15hrs, that game has a lot to offer and is generally fun to race in. I've been doing the time attack stuff trying to break some records myself so i'll see you on track for sure 👀
  • @hansolo631
The best feature of AMS2 is how incredible it is in VR. It's very fun to just put the headset on and play around on all sorts of cars and cool spaniard tracks that aren't in other sims(though it still has all the usual suspects like suzuka and spa and monza and all that stuff). For VR users IMO = iracing = ams2 > ac > acc
  • Automobilista 2 is amazing with the Pimax Crystal and it works at 120Hz if you lower a couple of graphical settings.
  • @markbooth
Project Cars 2 with Oculus Rift is what got me into sim racing as soon as VR launched
  • @virtual_GaRy
11:50 rFactor 2 has had laser-scanned monaco since 2019 (Circuit d'Azure) The AI is a lot weaker on the brakes, but they have got invisible boost zones at the corner exits to make up for the deficit. And its really easy in AMS2 to overpush the tyres, but it is not quite necessary and its slower in the long run. For Monaco, specially with the wet, AI probably adjusted to a really high downforce rain setup, which is why they have more grip.
  • @edteach3r
This is my favourite sim channel by far; not only because JB is the quickest sim racer out there, but mainly due to his positive approach to all reviews. Why trash someone else’s favourite sim?
  • @mropie81
Editing is on point man.. great content
  • @luni_eu
Nice seeing you checking out the game! I would recommend you to get the endurance vol.1 DLC as it has the new Gt3s (including the 2020 Merc) and the Lmdhs.
  • @HoriaM29
I wonder if this video was recorded before the recent tyre tread changes 🤔
  • @Eforce3d
OMG you are an awesome driver. Watching this video gave me my answer whether or not I wanted to purchase. My answer was yes. Thank you for sharing..
