Unity Fighting Game Update #28 - Networking + Aiden Revamped

This update contains the most complexity this project has seen and has once and for all solved all once-insurmountable bugs for offline and online. There's so much more to address (like match making and a ranking system and servers and so on), but the core gameplay is there.

Plenty of other features and effects were fixed, tweaked, and added. Though I can't recall everything, hopefully you guys notice the efforts.

My next task is to spruce up the other characters, fill out their missing animations, and give them the kind of identity "treatment" Aiden got. Though there's still a LOT of work to do, I believe we are finally in the home stretch.

If you would like to play the game, it can be found on itch.io in an inferior form, but it still gives a decently honest representation of what to expect. A lot was done to sharpen how the game feels in this update, but feel free to let me know what you think of the demo while I consider the next public beta.

  • These games came a long way and I'm sure yoy don't remember me but I was their during one of the older videos pointing out a nitpick but now I see the game and I think it looks amazing!

    Man, online seems like so much work. I was originally prototyping some online myself, and I stopped when research showed less than 10% of the FGC uses online(according to SFV and Darkstalker achievements). Especially with Parsec and TeamViewer, I'm curious if all fighting games even need online anymore outside of server based rollback... here are my other thoughts: 7:08 Turn up the volume and listen closely. UncutAngel actually left a little cute sound effect during the quiet portion here. 23:02 When you hit that true electric with Kazuya. Or... when you peep on a girl while they're dressing, I don't know. Don't do neither though, that's mean. 40:37 Don't like motion blur. Love it in motion, but looks trash in every game it is in if it pauses or blurs too many times in a row. I'm currently experimenting with using glass distortion instead of motion blur. 55:57 I actually like this a lot despite thinking it was a bit odd at first. Easy to ignore if you don't like it, but it fleshes Aiden out as a character. Do more of these, definitely!
