Tantalus Files: Vacationing with Parosmia

Published 2021-03-25
I went on vacation with parosmia! Three of them actually. There were ups, there were downs, but I'm so glad I decided to get out there. Thinking about vacationing with the devil in your nose? You should watch this first.

Im surprised you were able to tolerate drinks. I cant drink anything other than rose. You are far braver than me. I wont be travelling for a long time as you cans till catch covid again. Im going on 11 months with Parosmia and I cant imagine another 11 months of this hell.

I’m 5 weeks in and I was hoping it would be over soon but hearing your 5 months in and others that are in this longer just makes me so anxious 😟

You have such a great attitude towards this whole stupid ordeal we are going through, I'm really trying to take a leaf out of your book! I've been dealing with this for 2 months now and I think i am slowly coming to terms with it, but of course some days are better than others. One thing my sister helped me with was to instead of focusing on the foods I couldn't eat, instead focus on the thing I can eat; a glass half full way of looking at it I suppose!
  • Yessssss girl ♥️♥️!! Can’t wait for more videos!! I’m curious to know if the vaccine will worsen our Parosmia ☹️. I want to travel this summer but I’m debating on getting the vaccine or not. I have so much trauma from covid & Parosmia that I’m like back and forth!

How is your parosmia now compared to when it began?

Before you got parosmia, did your smell and taste come back normal after you recovered from Covid?
  • @marieb3671
I ate tons of Zinc lozenges 2 weeks ago. Ran out and went a week without them and the horrible chemical odor came back stronger. So I'm back on Zonc lozenges. Better already. Gonna devour a cheeseburger and fries now 😋

I’m 3 months in and my mental health is far from where you are. How did you get there and who was your support system? My husband is awesome but the rest of the world just doesn’t get it. I’ve done a few news spots about it and that’s helped others understand it, but to them i look healthy and should be cured.

Are you now recovered from parosmia?
  • @amirh.4151
Have u spoken to an ENT? Will this heal over time?
  • Thanks for doing these videos! Definitely makes me feel less alone and less crazy. I’m 7 months pregnant going through this and it’s been extremely hard and depressing, so let’s be real, this isn’t priority, but I know once I have this baby I’m going to want a drink or 12 lol. Have you found any alcohol that tastes ok for you?
