19 HOUR Layover In China (Guangzhou visa-free transit)

If you're planning a trip or layover in China there is a lot to know before you go (hey, that rhymed 😅)! China is not the kind of easy-going travel destination where you can just wing it, especially because you will need to pre-download and setup apps that you will NEED to pay for things and basically do anything in China (hint: these apps cannot be set up after you arrive in China for various reasons). So to help our fellow travellers we documented our 19 hour layover in Guangzhou! If you have any other travel tips for China, please put them in the comments down below!

Apps you will NEED:
Get an Airalo e-sim: airalo.tp.st/jFOcODNf
WeChat: apps.apple.com/us/app/wechat/id414478124
Alipay: apps.apple.com/us/app/alipay-simplify-your-life/id…

You can make payments using a foreign credit card with WeChat and Alipay, you can also use Didi (Uber) on Alipay as well as order food delivery, we stuck with Alipay because it worked for us but we downloaded and setup both apps before arriving to make sure we had a back up.

    144 hours is not enough. Every place in China has different scenery and culture, but the transportation is convenient, clean and safe. You are welcome to come again after applying for a visa.
