Y'know how crazy the queen's funeral was? It nearly caused my PhD defense IN CANADA to be cancelled. It went ahead. Barely. With much administrative begging and pleading. But the pubs were closed afterward. Wtf. Friggin' Brits.

"Mourning the shocking loss of a 96 year-old woman from natural causes" was my favorite part of that LWT episode. 😂

I can understand the "forced mourning" from when I was stationed in Okinawa when Emperor Hirohito died and we were required to wear dark colors, be quiet etc even as Shinto Monks were dancing in the streets wearing red. Okinawa is technically part of Japan but the native Okinawans suffered greatly through the years under Japanese's rule.
