The real enjoyment for me has come on multiple listens. After you know the song structure and can anticipate the chaos and randomness of the production you may find a new appreciation for it

Wait a minute.... A Death Grips fan.. Has a wife...

Immediately following up a reaction to Frank Ocean’s Blonde with a reaction to The Money Store is UNHINGED and I love it 💀

her reaction to "punk weight" was perfect. it's my favorite on the album
  • fantastic reaction, it feels like a wrench thrown into the cog in first listen. There's so much going on lyrically and sonically, it's controlled chaos with it's obscure samples and intensity.

Yknow what I like about you guys? I like the honest insight and the lack of pageantry. Super down to earth. Keep rocking in the free world
  • @bohsef
wicked video, you guys have a great ability to put the sounds into a context of some sort. my only two cents is art doesn't need to be associated with something else, like the gym, or relaxing. it can exist on its own, and sometimes pushing those boundaries is super important and fun. <3 keep it up guys!

love that you guys just enjoy the music in a very humble way.... very interesting to see the sincerity in the words that both of you say.

My favorite record of all time! Kinda wish I could go back in time and experience discovering Death Grips again

I would’ve recommended exmilitary as your first death grips project. IMO more accessible and the least esoteric lyrics. One of my fav albums
  • @youdesklamp
Death Grips ExMilitary mixtape shows that they have INSANELY varied tastes and styles they're drawing from. Obscure proto-punk rock, 60s one hit wonders, early 80s CGI soundtracks, 70s sludge, etc. If y'all are listening to rock n' roll too, I recommend Church of the Cosmic Skull. Start with "Is Satan Real?"

Great review! Absolutely love your reactions! I see a couple people recommending Danny Brown and JPEGs collab album, but I would suggest reacting to JPEGMAFIA's OFFLINE! album as your first intro. I believe it's his most accessible album, perfect for an introduction to his sound. JPEGMAFIA writes, raps, produces, and masters all of his songs. IMO he's one of the best producers in music currently. You mentioned liking Death Grips' ability to flip non-music sounds/samples into catchy production, JPEG is a master at this. Anyhow, keep having fun and don't worry about frustrating anyone if you're not feeling the music - it's all subjective! :)

Really enjoying these, this was a really cool one as a fan of Death Grips for about 7 years now. I think you sort of touched on something very accurate about why I at least really like them, as they combine elements from my favourite genres - electronic music, hip hop and metal / noisy genres of rock. Before getting into Death Grips, I was really into all of the Warp Records electronic artists, some of whom you've mentioned like Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada, as well as my other big favourites Autechre, Oneohtrix Point Never. I'm also an absolutely enormous fan of the artists Burial and Tim Hecker. I'm a really big fan of shoegaze as well, my favourite band across all genres is probably Slowdive. I also really like Deafheaven and Have a Nice Life. The artist Parannoul has also been making fantastic shoegaze recently. Three albums that might be interesting to hear your thoughts on would be: Garden of Delete by Oneohtrix Point Never Kindred EP and Truant/Rough Sleeper by Burial Sunbather by Deafheaven

  • You are so right about the Push It by SnP sound to Ive seen footage! I never thought about that.
  • You’re separating yourselves already from other reaction/analysis videos by both listening to things you haven’t heard!! Looking forward to more videos like these
