Please be aware that Lost Boys was essentially cut from this reaction due to that song being blocked by YouTube—it took multiple edits to finally edit this video into a version that did not get blocked

"This is gonna take some adjusting to, I'm glad I've listened to whole lotta red" is the funniest shit I've heard all week. It's like preparing for a south pole expedition by standing naked in front of a fridge.
  • Step 1: Go on a jog Step 2: put this album on Step 3: trigger an anxiety attack Step 4: never get tired because now you feel like you’re being chased

theres this joke that the first time u listen to death grips its completely unlistenable and then the 2nd time it just hits. been true for everyone ive known
  • @polarhero57
Bob, I really gotta applaud you for jumping into something like the Money Store this early into your journey into this genre. You are one of a kind. Love your videos.
  • Death Grips do love Prodigy! They even did a sick remix of firestarter using a slightly reworked beat from their song 'world of dogs'
  • @shrey377
Death grips has highly lyrical content, but the thing is you'll have a hard time understanding what the lyrics even mean in the initial listen Money Store has more banger and ragey songs than their other albums. Worth exploring each project
  • @robotking87
i feel like you'll enjoy much of JPEGmafia's music! try out Veteran and his new album LP!
  • @sanghajko9401
You'll definetly like Bottomless Pit or The Powers That B (side B) by Death Grips much more since it has much more heavy guitars you should probably check them out since these albums are also masterpieces
  • @Ona1000
I really think you’ll be in love with Danny Brown’s - Atrocity Exhibition when you eventually get to it.

Death grips is certainly hard to get in to, but knowing a bit about your music taste I'm sure there's the potential for them to become one of your favorite bands. Each Death Grips album has a completely different sound, although similar, don't get too settled yet, lol. But it's one of the reason we Death Grips fans love them. I actually have to thank death grips for getting me in to hip hop from rock. I'd recommend you next listen to their albums 'Jenny Death' and 'Exmilitary', because they have the most rock elements (Exmilitary actually samples band like Pink Floyd and Black Flag.). I suppose I could explain some things about the Death Grips 'lore' so you can understand the project and lyrics more. The band is comprised of three members: Andy Morin (producer), Zach Hill (math rock drummer from the band Hella), and the rapper MC Ride, or Stephan Burnett, a African-American man in his forties, who comes from a fine art background (he is an amazingly talented painter, worth checking out his work). He's also seemingly deep in to the occult (mostly the dark side). From what I understand he set out to express his experience and the darkness, horror and anger within him by creating a character named MC Ride, screaming poems about him.

This is one of their brighter sounding albums, check out their album No Love Deep Web for a more industrial and darker sound.

Major props to you for diving head first into DG this early into your hiphop journey! As a major fan of them to this day I still don't know/understand most of their lyrics so don't feel too bad if you don't get them all haha
  • When it comes to their live shows, they're batshit insane and crazy, you'll hear the full sound of their drummer in those live performances, he's also absolutely mental, but it's speculated that they as a band are either done for or on a longer hiatus (they don't have your typical band-fan relationship with their fans), mainly because the members are doing individual projects now. As for videos of live performances, I don't think you can go wrong with anything, but have one video where MC Ride (the rapper/singer) just fucking smashes a laptop by throwing the drummer's tom/snare at it lmao: https://youtu.be/g_maeU9qttU
  • @lotfj
16:07 This sort of realization was the first step for me to enjoy and appreciate DG. Stop trying to figure it out or deconstruct it, just let it wash over you and you'll notice the more you listen the more things will keep sticking with you.
  • @lost_esevenee
If you’re having a hard time with the lyrics there is an amazing video called “the money store documentary” that basically explains every track’s lyrics in great detail.
  • @TomasBridal
This is my all time favourite band. Just saw them live, that’s a whole other experience. Their drummer, Zach Hill is an absolute monster. Hearing acoustic drums over the stuff is amazing. I love seeing new music fans react to Death Grips. Checking all your DG videos out. It’s so much fun. I wish I could experience it all for the first time again.
  • The drummer zack hill is from Sacramento from where I am. My 8th grade English teacher was drummer and a huge punk rock fan, he taught me a lot about music and about death grips apparently he went to some of his shows cause zack was just insane. My teacher also had a band back in 2000s and gave me a copy. They were pretty dope, they had two drummers and it was split between ear.
  • Listen too Exmilitary for a very raw experience Listen too the money store if u want a more catchy vibe Listen too no love deep web for pure bass and anger Listen too government plates for weirder instrumentals Listen too fashion week for a more synthwavey vibe Listen too NOTM for a much more abstract vibe Listen too JENNY DEATH for a much more rock vibe Listen too Bottomless pit for a mix of Jenny death and Money Store Listen too year of the snitch for a much creepier abstract vibe
  • @gannonzahn8592
Whole Lotta Red and The Money Store are two of my favorite albums of all time. I have friends that love one and hate the other. They’re so similar yet so different, both very innovative in their respective sub-genres.
