Meghan Cary Brown was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at a young age, leading to significant life changes and the eventual need to remove her colon due to precancerous tissue resulting in a permanent ileostomy. Initially an active child and athlete, Meghan's symptoms began with persistent diarrhea, leading to a challenging journey of misdiagnosis, advocacy, and treatments.

Yes, I had this experience over 25 yrs ago. Total colectomy (complete removal of colon), temporary ileostomy, internal permanent J-,pouch. Sepsis- almost died. More pain and illness for 1 1/2 yr. Surgery fail. More pain and grief with ensuing re-do of everything. Begin again. It's been a wild ride but I got well, mostly, after a number of years with Crohn's Disease. My life isn't without some embarrassing complications, but hey, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You've got to learn to laugh! And I'm a real survivor. It's all good and worked out in "the end". 😊
  • I had a hemicolectomy done in 2009. I thank God for being alive, every single day.
  • You look so beautiful rocking the bag . I knew a wonderful man who went through this for colon cancer polyps. His gf broke up with him and refused to be intimate due to it. My heart broke for him. I loved him like a brother. His cancer came back a few years later and he passed. Im glad they got to you while it was precancer. Keep living life happy and spreading awareness. ❤

I remember getting those dots marked on my abdomen before my recto sigmoid colon cancer surgery for a temporary ileostomy, which I had for 9 months. I’m surprised they did this surgery on you for precancerous growths. I would have thought chemo and monitoring could have been done first before engaging with surgery. You wear the ostomy bag proudly.

I had a very close friend who had gone through the same area with her cancer, and hers was stage 3. I find it so beautiful that this young woman told her story because it does happen in young people and needs to be talked about, and she shared her pictures so she's showing others who have a bag also, that they don't feel it's a secret that they have to hide from the world. So, I truly thank her for sharing.
  • As someone who suffered a twisted bowel, megacolon & bowel resection due to undiagnosed Cordia equine syndrome 24 yrs ago your amazing! I declined the major surgery and suffered every day since. You put things in perspective. Stay strong and beautiful ❤️
  • This popped up on my phone. Today I found out I have a whole bunch of stuff wrong in the lower half of my body... A lesion on my liver, a bladder stone, a kidney stone, plaque on my arteries, possible hernia, and who knows what else. I see the smile on your face and I know that if you got through what you went through that somehow I will too. Thank you for the encouragement

I'm sorry that what you thought was negative, turned out to be positive. I hope you only had to wear the bag temporarily. I also pray that you are feeling better and in remission. Thank you for sharing your cancer journey with us. 😷😢💔🙏🏼🎗☢️☣️✝️♋️

You've got this. I was the same as you. Precancerous colon, surgery, now wear a pouch. That was 25 years ago. I do anything and everything I want to.
