Looking great! Factorio in a Forest is certainly a very appealing concept, best of luck!

This is what true dedication really looks like. The whole series actually helped me get started with being a game developer and I currently work with my middle school friend on godot :)
  • @smellfish1430
Cool! What about the rivers? Maybe you could make a water pump/electricity generator to make the machines run or make the machines slightly faster or give other slight advantages?

7:35 son of birch. Looks like an amazing name for a comany)
  • Really glad that the algorithm grabbed this, I'd love to see a breakdown of your black idea book and how you brainstorm things.
  • @RobLang
Great to see your progress and design decisions over the year. I hope that at the end of my first year I have achieved as much as you have! 👍

One day, this will be me, but today, all the glory of a job well done goes to you. I have not taken my first step yet, but this is very inspiring, thank you :)

Congratulations on 1 year of game development! When I first found your devlogs I binged the whole thing because of how amazing your game already looks! I can’t wait to play it on release! On a side-note, here’s a couple of suggestions I thought would be cool. :P I think it would be great if there was an employee you could hire that would automatically replant a specific/random species of tree in a player-specified area. It would allow for more automation so that you can focus on other things instead of constantly worrying about running out of trees. Some other cool ideas would be for activist groups, employee benefits and unions. If you didn’t replant enough trees there could be a chance for activists to target your company, which would decrease the amount of trade offers you would get. Employee benefits could be stuff like holidays, healthcare and retirement funds. While it wouldn’t be necessary for the player to provide all of these to an employee, they would boost an employees happiness, because maybe they’d quit if they weren’t happy enough. Combining employee benefits with a union system would encourage players to run an ethical lumber company, because unions might organise worker strikes if you don’t treat your employees right, and maybe even file lawsuits against you.

Dude, I love your project! I love the concept of the game itself, it is a very calm, beautiful and curious game. It gives me really good vibes. I have really liked to follow the development during all these months, watching videos regularly to see the updates, and see how it is taking shape. I think you are doing a wonderful job. I'm going to reserve it on Steam now. But take your time to finish it, if you see that you are going to have to delay it, do it without any concerns. Your followers will understand it, it is a massive job and for to get it done properly, it needs dedication. Cheers!

Been watching these devlogs for nearly as long as you've been posting them.

You've committed so far and lots of people including myself are excited by your project. Thanks for documenting the process, man. Good luck over the coming year, I'm sure you're going to do great.

WOW! I knew that this was complex but had no idea how far you were planning on taking this. The layers you keep adding are all the more astonishing when you see them published in a 10 minute video. Keep at it Ben - and by the way - your tower defence game is also coming on brilliantly. How do you also find time to write and create the music and compile the videos and keep up with your Uni work? As I said above - Astonishing!!

What a journey, glad to see you pull through and I hope to see this in Steam stores soon

I follow many game devs' dev logs and tutorials and especially Unity related because i'm interested in all that kind of stuff. Thank you! Subbed, liked and I'm sure I will watch your other videos also and I'm looking forward how your game's doing in the future when it's released!
  • @chubawaba2863
This is soo cool, it's also a good insight of just how much work you need to put in and that not everything you use will get used but serves as a good learning experience.
  • @joeypecoraro4430
This game is absolutely stunning, it looks gorgeous and everything I’ve always wanted!! I’m so glad I found you I’ll be watching all of your videos!!!
  • @TimersAndMore
The style and feel of roller coaster tycoon from back in the days is so beautifully done.
