One of my all-time favorite songs, performed by the guy who is known for distorted vocals... I wasn't sure at first, but you'll see the revelation.

Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Disturbed for the first time, performing "The Sound of Silence."

She has the expressions of a Disney princess.

“I thought that they’d have a more aggressive approach.” Hang on tight... He’s still in first gear.
  • @misguidance__
The original version of this song comes across as a warning to the future...Disturbed's version is a realisation that it has all come true and we didn't heed the warning. Simply breath taking
  • @BabsisHere
Paul Simon told David that it was HIS song now - what a fabulous compliment!!!!!
  • @TinyMexicanZ
I want a girl to look at me how she looks at the music that makes her happy.
  • @TheExplosiveGuy
Apparently Paul Simon told Disturbed that they sang it with the emotion it truly deserves, and that he loved it. Big compliment right there, most artists aren't too thrilled with covers.

Most people don't realize the fact how incredibly good metal singers really are !!! this is just one example and what great cover of one of the most beloved songs in music history !!

QUOTE TAKEN FROM REDDIT: "In April 2016, Paul Simon endorsed the cover. Additionally, on April 1, Simon sent Draiman an email praising Disturbed's performance of the rendition on American talk show Conan. Simon wrote, "Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I'd seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks." Draiman responded, "Mr. Simon, I am honored beyond words. We only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/us and we are eternally grateful."
  • "It sounded so much more haunted and dark" you could say it sounded disturbed.
  • David trained as a cantor...to sing holy prayers and chants in synagogue. His voice is resonant, melodic and emotive ...and just plain beautiful.🙏

This cover blows my mind every single time. Its a damn masterpiece & should be in a museum.
  • Vocal coach: Would you like to sing it softly or powerfully? David: Yes.

And that ladies and gentlemen is what an eargasm looks like. The leaning in, quick breaths and rapid blinking and eye movement. Bravo.
  • @DukeDarkshadow
As a loyal and diehard Disturbed fan for over two decades, seeing her slowly growing more and more excited as David was transitioning his voice into his traditional "Oooo-wah-a-a-a!!" towards the end of the song was the most adorable thing I've ever seen.

No matter how many times I listen to this song, it gives me chills and makes me well up. The emotion behind his voice is TANGIBLE
  • @schtoff8200
As was once read, I now reciprocate: "Garfunkel's version represents a warning, while Disturbed's version represents rage since the warning was ignored."
  • @sackman1886
No matter how many times I’ve heard him sing that song, I always get chills.

This woman is so fascinating. Just watching her facial expressions it does something to you. She almost helps you take in another element or depth of what you're listening to.
