Neither will Stephen Curry, Breanna Stewart or any of the other men’s and women’s basketball players representing Team USA at the Paris Games. Forbes staff writer Justin Birnbaum joins "Forbes Talks" to break down just how much it costs for USA basketball to make their own arrangements.

  • @NichoD3
$15M is like a happy hour tab for Nike
  • LeBron is literally a billionaire and he's old (not even a joke) he's not gonna sleep on a crappy cardboard bed with no AC lmao
  • @myab1471
My Glorious 7ft King KD aint sleeping on no damn cardboard bed!!!
  • @Havoc0606
They had 5 exhibition games selling out 20,000 tickets each starting at $100 up to $ 1,000. That should help.
  • This Forbes lady wants him to say that the money is coming solely from the government. She wants to find a way to talk down on the basketball organization for opting out of the village. Millionaires players net worth over $100 million and over 60 billion dollar industry. These players are the best of the best there
  • Why would you want to put billion dollar athletes the same rooms as $100 athletes
  • @HOV4N
Imagine Nikola Jokic sleeping on a cardboard bed 😂
  • No AC and Cardboard beds??? Inadequate food??? Those are NOT conditions for prime athletic performance. TEAM USA should have put all of our athletes in another facility.
  • Turned a 4min interview into 10mins, asking the same question 5 ways.
  • $15M is a mid, come-off-the-bench, NBA player annual salary. It's nothing!
  • hmmmm...so go to paris with my family and stay in a private luxury hotel with great security, or sleep on a dorm room bed with a roommate in a small space with no A/C in the middle of summer....tough choice lol
  • The Olympics is a paid vacation for the USA Basketball players and their families since 1992. These guys are supposed to be in their summer vacation with their families, so for a small fee they're now playing to entertain the world.
  • Some of these NBA stars make nearly $450,000 per game to play basketball. The olympics paid them $0 for this recent win (sold out game, btw) against South Sudan. They deserve to stay at the most luxurious hotels or resorts Paris has to offer.
  • What does it matter if they are being taken care of. They should be treated well. They are representing team USA Basketball
  • Why is this even a story of course they shouldn’t be at village
  • This a red herring story. Selling and promotion of the Olympics by the NBA stars brought in close to $77 million LAST YEAR. All the official sponsors love how recognizable they are and theyve been doing it since 92. The NBA might even demand it as the price of lending out their stars as a sop to the owners who dont want theyre best players injured. Normally I'd be down on the players but this is a executive decision based on income return. Fewer people follow competive rowing or beach volleyball than professional basketball and that pays the bills. It sucks they wont invite the rest of the American team though. They rented an entire hotel.
  • im sure those hotels/charter busses/trains and whatever other people involved with dealing with them are all honored to have them travel with them and stay at their hotels. those hotel room prices will be double once they leave because they will market it as the official hotel rooms of lebron/steph/kd. they will be an autographed pic of them in the room and everyone will be happy. relax people they are not bankrupting the country by staying away from the village!!
  • The NBA players salaries are more than all the other Olympian athletes salary combined.
  • Steph Curry would get shanked and probably worse in the Olympic Village. Poor fella wouldn't last a night😂😂
