Elle a été confirmée en décembre dernier par l'Académie française, et va entrer en application ce mois-ci, en avril. Dans cette vidéo, je vous explique tout ce qu'il faut savoir sur ces changements !

YouTube put this in my feed but of course the date shown of it is just "2 weeks ago", so I was completely taken in! Good one - though I would have liked it, it does seem inconceivable that the good people of France would give the Belgians and Swiss such a victory!

😭😭😭 I was so happy that this was real, I was even sharing pictures with my French friend. Because for me as a Spanish speaker, it doesn't make sense there exist letters that aren't pronounced until I realized it was a joke. Lucky me, I could erase the pictures I sent to my friend before she started to make fun of me, hahaha.

Tu m'en as eu là. Je suis professeur de français et brésilien et j'étais soulagé à la fin du video. L'ortographe française est complexe, mais elle suit des règles d'étimologie qui ont beaucoup de sens. Imagine apprendre et enseigner une chose pendant toute une vie et après tout changer.

Ce matin, en me réveillant, j'ai été un peu à l'ouest lorsque j'ai vu Elisa parler de cette réforme incroyable ! En train de préparer mon café, j'ai tout arrêté et j'ai crié : "J'HALLUCINE !!". C'est un cauchemar ! Le choc m'a fait réveiller et j'ai compris que c'était le 1er avril. Très bien joué, Elisa ! En plus d'être super charmante, tu es super forte pour les blagues ! T'es un rêve !! I did two years of French 30 years ago, and the fact that I could understand it quite well is a testament to Elisa’s clear speaking and well-chosen words.

Au début j'ai encore cru ce que tu as dit. Mais à partir de "tout devient è/é", c'était clair que c'est une poisson d'avril🤣🤣 La réforme des nombres serait très utile quand même. Ce n'est pas si abstract, vue que ça existe en Belgique/ dans la Suisse.

I've been learning French for many years and I always get stuck on extremely difficult grammar and spelling rules. I wish this reform was actually done. It would attract so many people to start learning French.

Brava! An April Fool joke prepared that seriously and professionally. Watching that on April 9th, I was suspecting from the beginning that it was from April 1, but when it came to the cancellation of liaisons - that was a joke 100%. All the proposed spelling simplification and the Swiss numerals are reforms theoretically possible, but you cannot cancel the liaisons that people actually pronounce.
