The GoPro Hero 4 Session camera is placed on an old time gondola car to record this video. At the front end of the train, facing the rear you view the Bachmann 2-6-0 Mogul steam locomotive in New York Central livery as it pulls three old time coaches.

The first coach is a combination car because half of it can store baggage and the other half passengers. The final two coaches are standard train passenger cars from the late 1800's era. In this configuration, the first passengers are at least some distance behind the loud and dirty locomotive.

This small Bachmann steam engine is not strong enough to pull the coaches, and push the camera. Bringing the extra horsepower to the train and located In front of the camera's gondola car is a Walthers Proto GP7 diesel locomotive, on loan from the Erie Lackawanna railway.

The layout is a Woodland Scenics Grand Valley kit. The buildings are Woodland Scenics / DPM kits with appropriate Roomette lighted rooms installed. More to come as the work on the layout continues. Thanks for reading!

Very nice. Here on Dan's recommendations. I'll be back.
  • Lookin' sweet! At about 1:33, your curtain briefly looks like a big, frozen waterfall in the distance. Also, I love being able to see inside the tunnels, that's awesome.

Nice work Tom. I intended to have some back facing shots and trailing shots on my last cab ride but ran out of time. A detached consist of speed matched locos with the front loco pulling the back-facing camera works good for a nice action shot of the engine. Likewise for a following shot of the caboose. The GVL looks great with the lighted brewery going by, as well as your other industries. Nice job!! 👍🏼
