Hey, you ever feel like playing around with garbage? WELL THIS IS THE VIDEO FOR YOOOOU.
Even though my sewing materials are still chaotically packed away, I had the NEED to make something this week, and after looking at how much dang packing materials I had from moving, I decided to put them to "good" use?
This project was a ton of fun and a good trial run for makin stuff in the new house, so uhhh I hope you enjoy!

I had never heard of a Selkie dress before this, so I for real thought she was making one based on the myth of the Selkie. 😆 That’s be awesome, though! A whole Ladies-of-Mythology series!
  • @WHAATEVEN
Okay but hear me out: a dress inspired by an actual Selkie 🦭 (cool mythological seal ladies)

Omg when she said “can I pass this down to my grandchildren” I immediately thought of how weird that moment would be if you went to your friend’s house and went “what the heck is that pile over there” and they responded with “that’s my grandma’s trash dress. She passed it down to me when I turned 17” XD
  • Ahh, so there's a company named Selkie. I thought this was going to be a Mythological seal shapshifter dress.
  • Rachel: “I think the third box is out in the barn.” Me: “I’m sorry the WHAT??” So happy for you, you deserve a house with a barn. It’s On Brand.

I absolutely CACKLED when you started rolling around popping the dress at the end because that is the highly relatable content we have all come to rely on from you. I now endeavor to be a trash goblin today.

The uncontrollable laughter I had when the bubble wrap sounded like farts just further proves that I am a child. On a side note, your new house looks so magical and dreamy. A barn and a pond! So cool!

Rachel: extremely critical of everything she makes all the time. Also Rachel: looks absolutely stunning in a dress made of literal trash.

In university, we went to an Anything But Clothes party - most of us wore, like, flags or bedsheets or whatever, but one friend made a bubble wrap dress and it was amazing. This one was way more elaborate and I love it!

Okay hear me out: recycle it into a Halloween ghost decoration now... It came out so cool! Excited to see more of the new house! :)

I was like several others who did not realize Selkie was a brand and thought "Is there something about selkie mythology that I didn't know?" That dress does look like a ton of fun, I'm glad you got to re-purpose some of your "trash" and also have something to do for a video while most of your supplies are *somewhere*. I moved this summer and it took me until late September at least to get my sewing/craft room set up and I still have to search whenever I need something specific.

This has the same energy as when Bernadette Banner made a dress out of toilet paper and I am HERE for it
  • @the_Pons
Rachel, you could use the dress as a ghost lady halloween garden decoration!!! Also, for once Frodo didn't try to lie down on your "fabric" 😄
  • I feel like I haven’t seen you this joyful in a while and all it took was glue and bubble wrap 😂
  • I feel like Rachel has just discovered a new way to save fabric while making floofy skirts.

You did this on a whim and yet you managed to outdo 90+% of the Project Runway contestants to ever have a trash challenge. And you very much deserved applause for finding that sleeve pattern :)

This reminds me of when Morgan Donner made a dress out of a giant Amazon gift bag. Amazed by the talent of ladies like you 👌
  • @salseragio9585
You rolling around on the floor had me rolling about with laughter and tears in my eyes! 😂 Thank you for this fun, creative video, Rachel 😊
  • @Pigletish
I actually just love Rachel's videos. They're so wholesome.
  • My almost 3 year old watched this with me and kept calling Rachel a princess when she was in the bubble wrap dress lol 🥰
