'Hunslet 125' - The Welsh Highland Section

Published 2018-06-25
Much of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway’s ‘Hunslet 125’ event took place around Porthmadog and Minfordd, where many photographers and video makers enjoyed a feast of entertainment. However, we decided that it would be interesting to make a video showing some of the trains that ran on the Welsh Highland section, as there seemed to be less visitor attention on this line.

The main part of the video shows Linda and Blanche putting in a breath-taking run from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, followed by a few scenes of the visiting engines shuttling up and down to either Beddgelert or Hafod-y-Llyn – the latter in no particular chronological order.

Due to the phenomenal organisation that had gone into what must be the railway’s most ambitions event yet, coupled with the fantastic weather, ‘Hunslet 125’ was a massive success, and our humble thanks, as always, go to the staff and volunteers from the railway whose hard work, vision and determination, made the event so successful – this video is for you.

Filmed by Dave and Tom Waldren on 22nd/23rd June 2018.
