This week, Lars Barriga makes a reflection of himself in the form of a neon-purple sweet potato roulade. Beach City's resident grouch is no slouch in the kitchen, so no wonder it takes me 8+ tries to get the friggin thing right. Baking is hard, guys.

  • Eggs aren’t dry, from what I’m hearing here in the comments - the more you know! Note to self: no more doing voice over late at night.

“Our dry ingredients, the most important of which is eggs.” visible confusion

Here's what I like about Babish. The other cooking shows are all like "So here's how we do it" but Babish is not the least bit ashamed to say "Here's my numerous attempts at making this dish, watch me suffer" and just upload it to YouTube.
  • Watching this made me really reconsider Lars. Being scared to try to make crème brûlée but making this perfectly really sums up his character.
  • “Our dry ingredients, the most important of which is eggs” “Our dry ingredients...” eggs
  • i honestly like how you show your mistakes because we’re all human and it’s completely understandable that it took multiple attempts to achieve your results.

Okay but let's just appreciate how many times he tried to perfect this, that's dedication.

Jokes about Filipino grandmas aside, no one is talking about just how beautiful the cake looks before it's rolled. Just this vibrant sheet of violet cake...
