Let’s talk about how to do intermittent fasting to lose weight. Intermittent fasting will save you time and money, and it has a lot of health benefits, including weight loss.

Intermittent fasting isn’t a diet—it’s a pattern of eating and not eating. When you eat, you trigger insulin. The less you eat, the less insulin you’ll trigger, and the more benefits you’re going to have.

To make the transition into intermittent fasting easier, try doing it in stages. Gradually move to the next stage of intermittent fasting only when you feel your body has fully adjusted to the stage you’re in.

The Healthy Keto diet will help make intermittent fasting easier. Check out my other videos to learn more about the keto diet and fasting.

Here’s how to start intermittent fasting.

Stage one:
Consume three meals a day without snacks.

Stage two:
Skip breakfast. Try to have your first meal at 12 pm and your last meal at 6 pm. Ideally, you wouldn’t have any snacks. But, if you had to, you would want to snack during your eating window (12 pm to 6 pm).

Stage three:
Start having your two meals closer together, so you have a four-hour eating window instead of a six-hour eating window. Have your first meal at 2 pm and your last meal at 6 pm.

Stage four:
Start having one large nutrient-dense meal a day, and try to have it by 3 pm. This will give you 23 hours of fasting.

Stage five:
Start adding periodic prolonged fasting. Once a week or once every two weeks, try a 48 to 72-hour fast. You could even try a 120-hour fast, which can produce incredible health and weight loss benefits.

I’ve tried OMAD a few times and I find that the biggest challenge is how food plays such a big role in social gatherings. It’s always someone’s birthday, family comes over for dinner late after my eating window, etc. I wish more people understood that intermittent fasting is a healthy lifestyle, because I have so many people thinking that I’ve developed an eating disorder.

  • I started intermittent fasting 3 month ago and lost 50lbs I feel so much better and don’t need any blood pressure or diabetes medication anymore. After about a week I didn’t crave sweets or snacks anymore. I cut out all sugar except a little honey for my tea. I don’t like chocolate or ice cream anymore. Don’t even miss it I weaned my body of this addictive stuff. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME ALL THIS INFORMATION ABOUT WHATS GOING ON IN MY BODY YOU SAVED MY LIFE I struggled with being overweight all my adult life and had serious health problems since a few years. Couldn’t get the weight off Fasting is easy for me and I have never felt better

I just want to encourage those who are having a hard time losing weight to start fasting. It really worked for me and it will also work for everyone!
  • I’m an alcoholic & very obese. (Around 35-40% body fat). I stopped drinking alcohol, started eating unprocessed healthy foods, intermittent fast 18 hours a day & speed walk for at least an hour daily. I’m on day 2..I already feel the benefits of my lifestyle change.

My husband and I have been intermittent fasting for 1month. Our marriage life has improved a lot. We are getting along better and no longer always napping during the day when we bored. More energy to play with our kids. Lots more!!!!

My dad, who was diabetic, told me 30 years ago that a person who barely eats anything, would have a healthier life.

It is not only the weight loss, the body suddenly feels free 🙂
  • Dr. Berg, I want to start off by saying thank you for everything. I use to weight 300 pounds. Now, I weight 173. I was able to lose 127 pounds in 9 months by doing intermittent fasting and eating the foods that Dr. Berg recommended in his videos. Also, I stayed away from foods that Dr.Berg recommend to not eat. I feel way much better. Since I lost 127 pounds, I don’t get hungry as often and don’t get fatigue as I use too. To anyone watching and listening, if I can do it, so can you. Just listen and take note to everything Dr. Berg is saying. Go back and watch all of his latest videos. That will help a great deal.

i have lost 50lbs in about 6 months using many of your suggestions. Intermittent fasting is one. Also I walk 5 miles each morning. Almost no starches or carbs. No sugar. Water only to drink. Apple cider vinegar and berberine supplements. Keto diet of eggs, chicken, beef, broccoli and cauliflower. Berries for dessert. If I have a craving I have a handful of olives. So, I'm living proof that your advice works. And I feel I could sustain this as I really enjoy my meals.
  • My grandpa was diabetic from age 60 till 92 when he died. He had his sugar under control and never had ill effects of the same. Was a strict disciplinarian eating at 7 pm and then having his meal at 12 noon! Love my tata
  • Another "side effect" of fasting, especially extended fasting is that you no longer care about what is happening in this matrix... you start to remove yourself from the daily dramas and concerns. This happens to me when i move into a week or more of fasting. I love it!
  • I used to do this. I lost a lot of blood after birthing my last baby and I lost all my baby weight but crashed over years. I'm always tired, I can't eat enough, and I snack. I'm so grateful for the reminder and science behind why we should eat this way.

Love this doctor. He is literally putting people first contrary to his industry which is making profit out of people health instead of giving them cure.Big fan (Pakistani Canadian)🇨🇦🇵🇰

After taking in content on the benefits of prolonged fasting and intermittent fasting for years, I fasted the first 28 days of this year, (I had sauerkraut 2 times, mustard, a couple of green juices & some wheat grass, black coffee, & electrolytes) I lost 46 lbs & felt AMAZING! I gained 10 back on vacation, but am losing again with OMAD. Currently over 100 lbs. down from my highest weight, with about 85 to go. I know the way now.. Thank you Dr. Berg!❤
  • The most valuable thing IF did for me was that it helped me to remove garbage food from my diet and I lost fear of fat. With the limited amount of eating sessions you learn to prioritize the top quality foods.
  • First day, 16 hours. Second day, 18 hours. Now at nearly 42 hours. Five pounds down already. High energy. Mind feels clearer than ever. Slight headache, but upping the electrolytes. Hunger comes in waves, but nothing I can’t handle. Easier than portion or calorie control, by far. And portion and calorie control never works for me. This is amazing! Thank you for your fasting videos.
