In today's video I drive the brand new (if stupidly named) Porsche Taycan Turbo. A vision of the future from Stuttgart, the Taycan doesn't seem to know what it is, other than a Porsche without an engine. So is it any good? Let's see

Porsche: "Here are 500 interesting interior color combinations." Accountant Customer: "I'll take everything in black."
  • Not often JayEmm is lost for words and starts insanely giggling but when he pressed the accelerator in that thing.......

I'm certainly NOT an electric car fan one bit but THESE always turn my head! I think Porsche NAILED the looks🔥🔥🔥
  • @ConquerDriving
Thanks James for a great review, it's refreshing to hear a review about an electric car that's not all about range and performance.

Installed a charger for an owner of a Taycan Turbo last summer. It was the first Electric car I thought wow about. The build quality was amazing. Done a couple of Teslas also and hate having to listen to the owner's talking about how good the car is and having to agree as you are there to do a job for them. Nothing fits, the gaps are hourendous, the interior is just awfull.

“I’d expect that figure to drop some WATT” - I see what you did there...

That Star Wars/pod racer reference was spot on! pity it doesnt sound like a pod racer :D

I hope Porsche sells lots of Taycans and electric Macans so they can continue to produce NA GT3 RSs, running on cleaner petrol for us real driving enthusiasts. Nothing replaces the feeling of driving a flat-6 flat out (on the track) and running through the gears with that engine roaring behind you.

Where is that front camera installed, makes me anxious as it looks like you're driving on the other side of the road with cars coming! Great review!

No need for paying out for the ceramic brakes with the regen your hardly use them The standard brakes will be good enough

In the eighties you could find the word Turbo on ironing boards and bicycle saddles. They never learn 😉.

I love Porsche options. Paid options on my car include: painting the badge on the back of the car, leather sun visors, cruise control, bluetooth and having a tinted bit on the top of the windscreen. Cruise control especially should have been standard on literally any car in the last 10 years but Porsche still charge extra! Mine doesn't even have sat nav. Still a great car of course, but the fact you can literally spec a few Porsche cars up to double their list price is hilarious. Would love a Taycan too, just not in that spec...

I remember seen a Taycan Turbo S in person in Toronto last year in the launch spec, white with the white and black wheels, that thing is sick one of the best looking cars on the road by a mile.
  • @HyperHorse
It's disappointing to see that modern prestige German cars are still pretty stingy when it comes to standard equipment and the prices for certain options.

The track switch is actually there on the wheel lol he missed it.. it’s the diamond button that’s programmable. I have one and use it daily.
  • I picked up a turbo cross turismo a couple of weeks ago. It only had 8000 on the clock and the spec must have been around £140,000 I paid just over half that!! It has a practically unlimited battery warranty and full two year warranty with discount fast charging. And yes it's everything James says it is. The ride is easily the best of any car I have driven or been driven in. It literally grabs the horizon and thrusts it towards you like it's permanently fixed to a massively tensioned rubber band. I pretty sure I know now how pilots taking off from aircraft carriers feel. I've used launch control several times and I swear there's some kind temperal time distortion. Chassis is sublime and I'm not sure beyond a balls out track day if I'll ever discover the limits of grip.

    My mother's called Beryl. And she's 90.

I'd love to try one and I'm sure they're immense but those wheels look awful in black.
