Note:
The "focused mode" and the "diffused mode" do not necessarily correlate to a "right side", or a "left side" of the brain, because the brain doesn't actually work in different sides in that way.

This is written from my perspective on learning things based on my experiences with drawing and painting, but for research purposes I studied the work of Barbara Oakley to see where I was wrong, or where things could be explained in a better way.
The parts that are more neurological are inspired by her work.

My procrastination is so bad, I can't even finish this video even though this is absolutely something I needed. I really appreciate motivational posts like this.

I’ m a teacher and ı think people tend to procrastinate the things they wanna make or learn because of they think if they dont spend their max effort and time there will be nothing meaningful. For exp if a student wanna learn a lesson thinks like I need to study this subject/lesson for hours, but studying for hours is boring or I dont need enough time for it today, lets try it the other day. And the other day will be just the same. U need to understand that if u dont do anything about something u ll get nothing. If u do whatever u wanna do for maybe a minute, maybe 10, maybe 1 hour doesnt matter it will progress. So u wanna learn chem u can start with 10 min. study every day or every weekend as u wish, finally after a few months u definitely have knowledge about chem. We always think like if i make many hours effort suddenly we will be perfect on it. But reality is if u spent efforts, even tiny efforts like baby steps u will learn how to walk <3

I’ve always wanted to learn a second language. I finally dived head long into learning French at the age of 31. Happy to say after five months I’m hitting an intermediate level and still learning new words and phrases everyday.
  • the taking breaks thing is VERY important. When learning anything, even a sport or something mostly physical, the thing that gets worked up the most is your brain. Oh, you wanna learn bass? Well guess what, your fingers are not going to be your main problem, your brain is. Take breaks, sleep, and when you feel like you can't play right or learn anything for the day, leave it at that. You've reached your limit, and you literally can NOT go over it

Since sleep is important to learn, I will take that as my first step. Goodnight y'all

One of my weaknesses that I want to overcome is sharing my thoughts out like this one. This video just helped me take initiative and engage in the comments section! I get very anxious and I fear how people would reply to me and this video just inspired me to make this year of mine to be full of knowledge and new learnings. Thank you so much!

The "details get easier to learn as you understand the broad idea" is SUCH a good point that I'd never thought about before. I study economics and the graphs are quite frankly a fucking nightmare to understand, but the more you understand the fundamental point behind them, the more you start to grasp the equations.
  • "I'm going to study at 6." "I'm going to study at 7." "I'm going to study at 8." "I'm going to study at 9." Me talking to myself: why are you like this
  • Man I love this video because I relate with so many things I’ve overcome on my own which I’m so proud of myself for but I also acknowledge that there are still much more to be learned and to get through which fortunately for me am excited for
  • This is an incredibly insightful and overall well researched and presented. I want to thank you for putting in as much effort as you have to provide a great understanding of the learning process as well as inspire others
  • Learning things activates the pain center? Cool, I didn't know th- OW MY PAIN CENTER

I put "procastinate" down on my to-do list, so when I try to procastinate, I procastinate by not procastinating and do my work instead.
  • Damn man you're honest about it. It honestly helps a lot and gives a lot of insight
  • @TheHyperKid1
Wow. I really needed to hear this, thank you! I've been procrastinating from artwork and college because both have been causing me a lot of stress combined (mainly math is causing it.) I'll keep this amazing video on hand to refresh my memory of these topics when I need it, because I definitely needed it. Sleep is one of the biggest issues for me but honestly all of my issues come down to how much initiative I have to re-balance how I do things and what things I do. 10/10 video.
