  • Dave's Friend: "careful dave, they after you." Dave chappelle: "one they, or many theys?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  • “To what extent do I have to participate in your self-image.” - Dave Chappelle

Best line: "Just because you're trans doesn't mean you're right about everything." The fact it even needs to be said at all reveals how big a problem this is.

I love, love, love John McWhorter's use of the phrase "striking battle poses against power differentials". Such an exquisite analogy for all the yelling people do about injustices, rather than actually doing what they can to create positive change. As Red Green once said in a 1998 episode: "People like to complain... It feels good; it makes you feel important; and you don't have to do anything"

"If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." - George Orwell
  • I am trans and I’m so embarrassed by the woke trans gestapo that gives us all a bad name
  • "I've said the n-word 5 thousand times on the Chapelle show. No one tried to cancel me. In fact, they offered me 50 million to keep doing it." - Dave
  • I like it when moderate liberals have the cojones to call out their radical counterparts. Bill Maher, even if I disagree on some things, holds himself to a much higher intellectual standard than most
  • Very wonderful segment! And no, Latinx is not picking up at all with us Hispanics, period!
  • Never thought I would see the day where Dave Chapelle would be protested. Also never thought I'd see the day where the left went so insane Maher would be considered moderate and have conservative fans
  • "I'm Not Sure I'm Down With All Of It...And I Don't Have To Be!!!" RIGHT ON -BILL
  • Voices like John McWhorter's are extremely important in this day and age.
  • With the trans community calling for Dave to be cancelled, and Netflix boycotted, they are proving the exact point that Dave was making in his special.

As a Leftie, after watching Dave’s special, I feel he didn’t spread hate. He spread humanity and nuance.
  • You could see the tears in Dave Chappelle eyes when he’s talking about his friend Daphne. I haven’t see one video on social media talking about what he’s doing for Daphne’s child. Raising money for the child future. Where’s the empathy and compassion for his good deeds?
  • The best part of my day today was when John McWhorter used the word “defenestrated” casually in the conversation.
  • This was a comedy special dedicated to the memory of a trans woman and yet no one is talking about her. RIP Daphne. I’m glad Dave told us your story.

Many Latinos I've spoken with are not down with "Latinx" because it's an anglicized term that doesn't mean anything grammatically in Spanish which is a gendered language. Makes sense to me.
  • I’m a pretty conservative gal and I appreciate this interview. Andrew Yang makes sense
  • John McWhorter is the best. He’s one of the few rational minds using his linguistic background to veer into social issues. And he’s doing it better than Noam Chomsky could ever dream of.
