I blame Ronald Reagan. We bought into his whole mindset of how to deal with problems: Just lie to yourself & keep telling yourself you're awesome.

As long as we're pathetic, we might as well act like it's cute - BEST PHRASE I'VE HEARD IN YEARS!!!!! ))))))))))))))
  • @darkblood626
because there is more money in 'treating' problems that solving them.

WOW, it is 2016 and nothing has changed, it has gottin worse if anything.

A decade later and this is still depressingly relevant...

Even Maher could not have foreseen the horror that would occur 7 years later.

In Delhi, all diesel buses were scrapped out overnight, with natural gas running buses. Overnight

And it's still as true as the day it was spoken!

"What do we want? A small improvement. When do we want it? 2016!"

Let me, as a concerned and friendly European, let concerned Americans know why some parts of the world might seem a little unfriendly to them. It's a quote I once heard of a doctor (the profession you normally associate with saving lives): "I don't care how many Iraqis die as long as I have my air conditioner running"... It's because some people think they're so star spanglin' awesome (awesome dude!!!) that they never wonder how and why much smaller countries beat the US in many ways. If US history, no matter how rich, has around 250 years, some people may still believe the world is 6000 years today. However, the truth is always more interesting than fiction. PS There are no white dragons in Russia, some might confuse it with Tolkien.
  • Ok this is scary. It is now August 2016 and I drive a kia that gets...wait for it......35mpg!
  • its because America conducts its affairs, foreign and domestic like a self entitled teenager

We didn't use to be. Up until Reagan, we were the world's can-do folks.

Here we are in 2022 and those pieces of legislation have solved the climate crisis, health care is perfect, and rich people can own their own space programs! It's a Brave New World!

Jesse Ventura 2016. He was right all along. We need to get rid of the two-party system. The two-party system makes people want to serve their party a lot more than they want to serve their country. When the Republicans shut down the government last year regardless of how many innocents it hurt, just because they weren't getting their way, that was politics at its absolute worst. One of the greatest presidents we've ever had was not a member of any party, and that was George Washington himself.

I swear Bill Maher and Michio Kaku are twins separated at birth.
  • @The_Gallowglass
The problem is rich businessmen from corporate America, Wall Street and the bankers who end up as congressmen and Presidential cabinet members.

I never would have made the connection until I read that, now I can't unsee it.
