Usually the bowl/ plate is bean sprouts, lime, jalapeño slices, and Thai basil. Hot sauce and pickled garlic is on the table. Soy and oyster sauce is on the table. Before adding anything always taste the soup as you never know exactly how much of each thing you need until tasting. I actually found this insanely good pho place in Chinatown Orlando and I had no idea it was even there until someone showed it to me. It’s unusually small for a restaurant but it’s good. It’s just in the back of a strip mall of Asian shops in downtown Orlando. I think it’s run by a Vietnamese family and the kitchen is absolutely tiny like street cart size yet they crank out so many dishes in a hour. I don’t know how they do it.

In North America, pho restaurants actually use "Hu Tieu" noodles into of pho noodles and sell it as "pho". Real pho noodles are flat and ribbon shaped.
