Only reason why I can't use my iPad as my main device is because I am a software engineer and you can't program on it natively like you can on the Mac.
  • @MrJsson
I`m in Greece right now editing my family vacation movie on the fly with my 11”m4 ipad. Final cuts flies through the prores quality. Amazing device!
  • I believe the iPad Pro is Apple’s most versatile device. I love how I can use it for work and play quite smoothly.

Possible alternative to a MacBook Pro ($1600) is to purchase the Mac-Mini ($600) and use the iPad Pro ($1000) as an external display., This provides both MacOS capability while still having the portability of the iPad

Ipad or Mac depends on use cases. I have both, mainly using my iPad m4 13 1TB for preparing training materials, research, brainstorming and planning. I use MP 14 M2 only if I open several Excel spreadsheets for my company’s financial calculations. Opening and working with several Excel spreadsheets is cumbersome with iPad. What you need iPad or Mac fully depends on what you need. Nice content, your subscriber from Uzbekistan.
  • I just picked up my iPad Pro M4 yesterday. So far so good. I’ll keep this comment updated lol

As a software developer, an iPad just doesn’t have the capability to run the software I need.that said it does pretty well for video and -hoot editing with the right app, keyboard, and mouse

I recently bought an M1 iPad Pro 11inch. I already have an M1 iPad Pro 12.9inch. The M4 iPad pro is a very good product, but all iPads are basically the same. I'm very excited about how the iPad will evolve from now on.

I use my new iPad as a laptop. I do document creation, spreadsheets, content consumption & creation tasks as well as gaming. With the logitech combo touch keyboard, Apple Pencil Pro & 8BitDo controller - it is a powerful tablet.

anyone recommending an ipad as a main computer is lying.

I too bought Ipad pro M1 in 2021 thinking i would use it as my computer. All i have done with it since is watch YouTube & Netflix. I very often have to go back to my 5 year old windows laptop for almost anything productive or Formal. PS: i have a T7shield ssd & installed ipad OS 18 public Beta.
  • I'll just say it, my M1 iPad Pro is well over powerered. It's way more than enough. I think even if I had the A12Z chip on this iPad, it would be more than efficient for the work I do, mainly drawing, art, word doc, youtube, writing papers, team meetings/video calls, video editing. I've even done Logic on it and I've thrown a lot at it and it doesn't budge. But with that being said, I am sure that M4 is amazing anyways! OLED looks real nice! Ultimately, I am still happy with my M1 iPad Pro.

Just last week I purchased the new M4 iPad Pro 11” and Im tickled pink with! From A to Z I love it all. It’s super smooth and quick. The pro motion is fantastic! It’s definitely worth the high price tag. I actually trade in my 2022 iPad Pro 12.9” iPad which helped offset my M4.

Microsoft 365 online on IPad is terrible. Almost unusable. For such an expensive device, it’s not able to run a simple web-based application that a $500 windows pc could run. Biggest upset for me

Another very insightful video..Keep up the good work, always enjoy your reviews and insight into the products. Currently I am still using my 5th gen 12.9 M1 Ipad Pro with 1TB storage, magic keyboard and 2nd gen apple pencil. I have been using this as my main computer since 2021 and it has not let me down yet. I am undecided as to whether to upgrade to the m4 Pad Pro, but your video has me thinking!. PS…Where did you find the wallpaper at 1:11 in your video. Cannot seem to find it anywhere. Thanks

My MacBook's battery died right as I got to the airport, so I had to use my iPad Pro as a computer for about two weeks. Mind you, I do a ton of computer work because I have a couple of webstores. I was blown away by how the iPad is actually a fully-fledged computer. It could EASILY run macOS, but obviously, Apple wants to keep a contrast between MacBooks and iPads. I did everything I would normally do on my MacBook on my iPad and was not let down even once. I finally understand why some people buy iPads instead of a laptop or MacBook. It pretty much does all the basic things.

Im using the 2020 4th gen Pro 12.9" with A12Z chip and want to upgrade to the M4! I can use it for almost all my needs and for me I could use it as my main computer. I have an MacBook Air M1 and love that too.

I bought the M4 iPad Pro 13” through my cell phone provider (because otherwise I’d never be able to afford it in time for college) and I mostly got it for 2-3 main reasons; 1) video calls with my doctors, 2) eventually going back to college, 3) for the first semester or two of college I actually don’t need a fully fledged computer and in fact once I’m in college & I’m making more money I can just get me an iMac and just remotely connect to it whenever I’m in classes or doing anything elsewhere through duet display or something
  • @ronlmjl
Agree completely with this assessment. As long as you aren’t coding, iPad generally should cover what you need from basic tasks to photo/video editing. I’ve been using an iPad Pro (3rd Gen - so pre apple silicon) for years as my main personal computing device since 2019 moving from macbook airs / macbook pros before that and I don’t think I need to switch back. It’s the best travel companion for long flights and runs Lightroom just fine when I’m editing photos on the go. My wife uses it to operate her Cricut and to do things on Canva. I think once this iPad craps out, I’d probably get another iPad Pro over a cheaper macbook air.

For the few people truly on the fence about what apple products to buy as a computer or device: I brought a refurbished iPad Pro 11 in for $460 (2 years ago) and I just bought a M2 MacBook Air for $860 (Prime Day $200 discount) Including some accessories like the Apple Pencil and paper like screen protectors, I’ve spent an extra $200+. That comes up to $1,520 For reference the new M4 11 in ipad with keyboard and pencil comes out to over $1,300 without other accessories. In my opinion there is no reason to buy an all is one device when you can just buy both and get the better of both worlds. It also is pretty much CHEAPER if not the same price.
