Ziggy Stardust: The Global Premiere

Fifty years to the day since Bowie’s last show as his famous alter-ego, Ziggy Stardust returns to The Eventim Apollo Hammersmith (formerly the Odeon) for one night only.

For the 50th anniversary, ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars: The Motion Picture’ is digitally restored with never-before-seen footage. The film will be unveiled at a red carpet global premiere and the screening will be preceded by conversation live on stage with some of Bowie’s famous friends.

Fans will relive that iconic night in music history in the venue where it all happened exactly fifty years ago. The film features the complete set, including a performance by late guitarist Jeff Beck, which was cut from D A Pennebaker’s original version.

The event will be live streamed to cinemas across the UK and Europe, with screenings in cinemas worldwide throughout July.

About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

To the best of my memory I had no thoughts of my own on art or philosophy until I found Bowie’s music when I was 16. Today I’m 62 and I don’t know who or what I’d be if I hadn’t gone through so many doors which he opened. I can’t wait to see this movie as it deserves to be seen.

I am only 15 years old I am loving David Bowie a lot. I was first introduced to him with Queen because I always have been a big QUeen fan and when I heard under pressure I was so in love with David Bowie´s voice! He was a really performer and I would literally sell my soul to have the chance to go on a concert by him, even though he is dead D:. He is a literal icon and everyone who doesn´t know him, how can you literally live?!?!

50 years, seems like yesterday when this 14 year old kid had his mind blown. Thank you David, for putting up with me and being there for me. R.I.P. Sailor. ❤️

  • Been waiting for someone to remaster this concert. I had the VHS copy back in the day and still watch the DVD every few years. Such a brilliant show! The Spiders from Mars were an amazing band.

  • Oh gosh I need this on my life. Ziggy was the mark of Bowie's career and this is a grand opportunity for fans that don't have seen much of David. I was 8 when he died and I am so excited for this chance! This show was amazing.
  • I am really happy I got to see David when he was Ziggy Stardust ...and of course with the Spiders From Mars.

I didn't discover Bowie til a year later, but once I did, he was it for me. I felt like I had someone by my side. I'll have been by his side for 50 years next year. Love you David. Miss you. ❤❤❤
  • This is perfect, Father’s Day is coming up (uk) and my dad is a huge Bowie fan who unfortunately never got to see him perform, likewise with Jeff Beck, so this is a dream come true ❤

Thank you for this. When I was sixteen I was able to find a bootleg LP of this show. It was a poor recording and the first track on the album was instruction on how to have an occult orgy. I didn't understand why the maker of the bootleg included the instruction but all these years later the release of this film is like receiving new instructions. The ultimate rock star, Ziggy played guitar!! Thank you David for improving my existence with your sounds.

I would love to travel in time and go to Ziggy's concerts. Everything seems to be so exciting and magical, fans incluided! I truly envy all of you who could live in that time ⚡💖 David, I love you 💖
