Started at 88hp, finished at 522hp; has to be the biggest improvement from stock EVER !!
-
Has to be the coolest engine power episode ever, thanks
-
This was a great episode, you built up an engine the average person can afford.
-
This is the best episode of Engine Power ever. PLEASE MORE 300 content. Push the boundaries of it!!! Sleeves and head, etc. More boost.
-
One of the best motors Ford ever produced. They seemed to take abuse and still run forever!
-
This was more satisfying and way more fun then almost everything else I've seen from this show. I really want to see them start making power on all sorts of different, underdog engines.
-
Now this is cool. The 300 is entirely overlooked. It would be nice to see more projects with it.
-
One of the greatest engines of all time. Awesome seeing it get some love.
-
Being a huge I6 Ford fan, this episode gave me goosebumps. Outstanding job.

I've taken 2 of these apart about 4 times each now, and yes- These will run 70 mph on the highway with a half ton of sand in the bed, with 2 cracked pistons, all rings seized, and not 2 squirts of oil. Then I re-re-built it with 5 new pistons and all new rings, bearings, and a HO oil pump. Absolutely love turning the key on my '85 F-150. Runs smooth as a sewing machine, even the air conditioning holds a charge and works. It may never go fast, but I can pull a stump at idle and 100% guaranteed to take me anywhere I need to be.
-
I want this so bad. It’s the ultimate crawl around and tug truck motor. Even the NA motor is good with a manual and 4wd. It pulls way more than you would think quietly.
-
One of the greatest engines ever.. truly stands the test of time.. seeing it respond so well to forced induction makes me giggle like a fricken maniac!
-
It's a 300ci. One of the absolute best engines ever.
-
Yes most epic engine power episode ever that 300 is stout af.

Gee thanks guys. My 87 f150 300 4x4 B.W. 4sp stick short bed I've had for 20 years honked twice while watching this video. My other is a 93 f350 7.3 4dr 4x4 auto and it deserves a turbo first. Both best motors ford ever put in a truck. My grandkids will drive these trucks. Both have pulled unbelievable loads. Neither are fast but are unstoppable. My friend had one in a delivery van and ran it for months with 5-10 lbs oil pressure.

It's fun, seeing someone finally giving the "Big Six" the recognition it deserves! Good job, guys! I had a 1982 Ford Econoline van, with this engine in it, and I agree: This is the best inline six cylinder engine on the planet. I gained a lot of top end torque, by merely installing a bigger exhaust and down-pipe on the stock exhaust manifold, paired with the factory intake and mono-jet carburetor.(Identical to what was on your engine when you got it) I had the 4-speed overdrive transmission, which was created by changing the 3rd gear ratio to create the overdrive. That meant, the transmission acted like it was a 5-speed transmission, missing 3rd. With the huge RPM gap between 2nd and 3rd, it would "run out of breath" in second, before I could get the RPM high enough, to be in its torque curve in 3rd. The big exhaust solved that, by giving it enough torque band, to cover that spread. I was able to use it to pull a travel trailer.

I've got to thank PowerNation for listening to their viewers and making this episode possible! 👍

I'd actually like to see this shoved into some old sleeper grandma Ford. Maybe an old 1979 Fairmont.
-
The 300 is just one of those engines that everyone loves and has a respect for. Never met any gearhead who didn't like the 300. I grew up with several full size Broncos in the family, what I wouldn't give for a decent example with a 300 and manual everything behind it.

I wish Ford would make this engine in this configuration. Ive got a 3.5 ecoboost and i love it. I can’t imagine this thing under my hood! Love the inline engines. Naturally balanced.
