Short Ben’s modus operandi seems to be - Buy Subaru - Spend a ton of money on Subaru - Subaru is now the perfect daily driver - Sell Subaru - Repeat
  • @assassin72
G&G just casually getting interviews with the equivalent of the Avengers of automotive youtube
  • @AchinonPL
The lack of in your face type of ads and actually smoothly integrating them into content is indeed so much easier to watch
  • @KG_BM
Short answer: flipping cars are a business expense for an entertainment channel. Which is fine by the viewers
  • @weswest8666
As long as auto YouTube channels stay below the “I bought a lambo” phase I’ll keep watching
  • A Gears and Gasoline vs Speed Academy build off would be dope. Suggestions would be a non traditional, non mainstream car that is still part of the tuner scene. A budget cap of 5k for mods. Budget cap of 5K for cars. Engine needs to be 1.8 liters or less. Edit: formerly (no power adders), now limited to only using components from any production vehicles (an example, swapping out the stock mazda BPT turbocharger for a stock turbo from like a used STI or Evo). Build should be focused around weight reduction, aerodynamic mods, tires, wheels, suspension mods and gearing mods. Parts used for upgrades should sourced from used production cars in junkyards (exceptions should be safety parts, ECU, and non reusable parts like gaskets etc.) Safety components and programmable ECU should be excluded from budget constraints. Drivetrain component swap permitted so long as costs are maintained within the budget constraint and car is safe to drive. Most content is geared towards off the shelf bolt on HP mods so going the opposite route should be fun and a new experience.

Sad to see the white STI go. That STI was the inspiration and reason I ended up buying a white '19 WRX as a daily. I do get it though, y'all gotta rotate the cars for content and revenue. May the next owner take good care of it and enjoy every bit of the STI!

I actually wish you guys did push merchandise further - I feel like G&G has its own, more mature/tasteful brand and that could translate to awesome merch I’d be proud to wear (and promote your channel!). Thanks for the awesome and honest content, much love from Finland ❤

it feels like theres an undertone of trying to get some sort of sympathy for having to sell cars that you like and had the privilege of even buying in the first place dawg i can barely afford even having a car, a single car. regular people cant reasonably afford most of the cars youve had and a space to keep them for any amount of time trying to paint the situation in a way that suggests you have to keep buying and selling cars to not go hungry is just distasteful, clearly whatever amount of revenue your pulling in is worth way more than a few cars which most people dont relate to. when you say "i cant afford to keep this car" it actually means "i wont be able to stay relevant on youtube and continue making a shit ton of money if i keep this car", when a normal person says "i cant afford to keep this car" it means "im going to get evicted from my apartment if i keep this car". ALSO having adam lz basically say "i would never even consider giving away a car if it wasnt profitable" is wild. literally couldve just said "im a greedy rich asshole" and that wouldve sent the same message

My biggest gripe with how popular car YouTubers function with their channels is that they do a build series on a car and then never really drive it when it's finished. Granted we are probably just not seeing them do it, but I personally would like to see them enjoy these builds than see them sitting around in the background collecting dust. Build cars that are meant to be driven and then do it.

First the SpecB, then the Fozzy, now the VA! Ben selling all the Subarus 😢
  • @LucoreAuto
Great honest video of the life of the usual Automotive YouTuber. Unfortunately a lot of it can also swing wildly with ad revenues all over the place depending on the time of the year. Jan / Feb is usually pretty rough! Fortunately for us, YouTube is mostly a driver for the actual physical shop that we are. So yes, we make money off YouTube views, but the keep our lights on and bills payed by the people who come in to have work done. Good luck with the sale!

Most rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them
  • I normally head to speed academy right after every G&G episodes. Both great channels.
  • @dadlife8289
Im a full time MTB YouTuber and I'm in the same boat. I buy and sell a lot of bikes and people get mad about it. You couldnt have explained it better though. Thanks for the video!
  • @hesamgir6657
I love how honest Ben is.. they keep it real for the viewers. I personally came across this channel last year for that Alaska roadtrip video and I love their road trip videos
  • @aroundomaha
It was great seeing the collaboration between channels. You are right I do forget the reality of YouTube content creators. This was insightful.
