Today, we take an in-depth look at what it's actually like to buy and own an incredibly cheap Tesla Model S. My friend Rex bought a 2016 Model S 90D with low miles, and it seems like a great deal, but we visit the electrified garage for a checkup and we find some interesting discoveries.

Tell Rex to put his shoes in the frunk. That way the rest of his car won’t smell like “tacos”

I love seeing Freddie in the U.K. with Mat Armstrong. They are both nice people and Freddie has been embraced by Mat’s family. There’s still a lot of love out there guys. 🙏❤️

23:50 “somebody took care of this thing.” “That’s about to change.” LMAO
  • As a Tesla driver, thank you Tavarish for warning people to not misuse a level 2 driver assistance.

17k for a facelifted Model S with AP 2.0 hardware is amazing deal! I has 2015 with AP1 hardware for 40K in 2018 with Certified Pre-owned warranty from Tesla, but I didn't have newest AP hardware or newer processor. It was fun to drive and had free supercharging, but only 220 miles of range if I was lucky. Took it all around the state and country for free and sold it two years later to dealership for the same price as I bought it for because they didn't check Autocheck where it showed minor accident before I bought it! 🤷🏽‍♂️ Sold it because it was fun for a while but then it actually got boring to drive. Plus I didn't feel like paying Tesla tax for parts and when a door handle is $1000 to replace, you know there was about to be some pricey repairs once it was out of warranty

Rex looks like an amazing guy. Happy for him. Great deal 😁

I sincerely hope he is jocking about texting with autopilot, which he probably is, but his messing around with people's head mode (like me😅) is too good
  • I’m planning to buy a used Tesla but I’m so worried about battery but if there is a company that fixed batteries not to replace it for 5-10 grand then I feel more comfortable of going to buy used Tesla thanks man its very informative

Rex should keep his shoes in the frunk. Keep the foot odor out of the cabin...lol

Nice one Rex. Great choice and specs. Also the multicoat red is awesome and you did a superb job bringing it back to showroom condition 💪⚡️
  • There needs to be a whole bunch of Electrified Garages to service these out-of-warranty Tesla cars. Saving a battery pack is a game changer, plus all the recommended maintenance is good information. The garage certainly knows what the weak points are and what to check.

I was curious so I got onto autotempest and looked up prices, nationwide, on a 2016 90D with a maximum 55,000 mi. The lowest price I found was $25,500. So yeah he got a GREAT deal

That's the nicest, cleanest, road ready car that has appeared on your channel...looks great and the price is great!
  • I brought a 2015 60D Tesla S prior to the Y dropping. Here in Oz they are rare as hens teeth so I got it for 78k AUD. On roads took it to 83k. I spent the 3k to remove the soft limit on the battery to take to a 75D. The only bummer was since it was second hand they had removed the free supercharging here in Australia. When i asked Tesla they said i could only trade up my battery to a 90. They said the 100D in those uears had extra suspension and structural strength over even the 90D due to the extra weight of the 100kwh battery. Hey shout out to Electric Garage. I will have to find someone like them here in Melbourne. The one thing with a Plaid is that for what is really a supercar it has the shitess brakes for when you actually have to use them consistently. 1 100 to 0 stop will over heat them. And my brother and i am sure that a recent update has reduced the performance of regen braking. The cold limit has been extended and i was certain that it used to go to at least 100kw regen now it seems the regen gauge is now only 75.
  • @BryceLovesTech
My 2013 model S has 177,000 miles on the original battery. All my doorhandles have been replaced. They only cost $300 apiece now. I’m still on the original brake pads with 40% pad life left. Don’t let people who never own Teslas tell you different. They are very reliable and cheap to own.
