Halo has been trending lately and not in a good way. I know how to fix it and honestly, I’m shocked that nobody has suggested this already given how late this video is. It’s time for desperate measures.

Absolute banger of a video!! Love the Halo content and the insights you have.
  • Chris got his wish of halo with grappling hooks, but what did it cost?
  • @GameNerd91
As someone with close to 1300 hours on FF14, thank you for using it as an example of what happens when a company values it's flagship IP to the point where they admit they screwed up and remade it from scratch to preserve the franchise. I hope halo infinite can be something it tried promising when it launch.

21:00 “halo wasn’t just a FPS…. It was a place to go!” You are so right. Halo felt like you were at a party no matter what you were doing. You felt like everyone was on the game for the same thing, to have fun. You hop in a lobby, you’re talking to people. You get into a custom lobby, you’re talking to people. You find someone to play campaign with, you’re talking to people. You find something cool in someone’s file share. Etc.
  • I'm not even a Halo fan. I'm not even an FPS fan. But please, I implore you, to do more Halo videos. Your passion for the subject and the franchise is infectious and it makes me care a great deal about the intricacies of a game series I've never even held a copy from. And in general, your gaming content is some of the most entertaining stuff on the channel, in my opinion.

I feel like there's an alternate universe in which halo 5 and infinite are critically acclaimed masterpieces made by arbiter industries
  • @nerolemon
The car analogy encapsulates the game perfectly for me
  • Halo Infinite feels like each part of the design team was stuck in solitary confinement, then finally let out and shoved their creations together
  • @Shushiroto
Ima be real with you Chris, I had to pause and comment before I was done with the video because you unlocked a core memory with the "more sand" bit. Thank you for that. I needed that.
  • @ChaseFace
I really love when you do Halo content since I can tell it's what you're insanely passionate about. Good shit, dude.
  • Honestly I think we're at the same spot we were with video games in the 80s: Companies just throw out garbage, and expect everyone to buy it regardless of quality and it's a damn shame
  • @AggroAggron
The "Place to go" Vibe is so perfectly accurate to what Halo Infinite was missing. When it launched there was literally no way to play with your friends. Custom games didn't work, and PVP was so sweaty out the gate. One week after beating the Campaign a few times I just went and played the Master Chief Collection with all of my friends rather than Infinite.
  • That car analogy was perfect Chris. I'm gonna use that to describe games like this going forward haha

18:00 "Imitation is the highest form of flattery but misunderstanding that which you wish to imitate is the highest form of stupidity" idk who said this but its stuck with me for years
  • @OhFrittata
“Go back to the very first Halo game, it is a HIGHLY competitive game” I have never been so angry at the words of a developer in my life. I’ve never heard a description of a game so incorrect in my 24 years of living and breathing on this planet. I know this is an overdone and stupid joke, “dehhh what is this guy high on drugs or something?!11!?,” but I genuinely believe that man was on ketamine or opioids when he thought those words were appropriate to describe Halo CE. That statement genuinely made me recoil in disgust.
  • @Beatmastergmz
Really hitting the nail on the head, Chris. The core gameplay and the foundation is fantastic, but it really does feel like just that; a foundation. You don't lay the foundation of a house, say "oh the walls and ceiling and HVAC are coming, but we cancelled windows lol" and expect anyone to want to live there. It really is saddening to see this happen to such a beloved franchise.
  • @peshkybee7721
Nailed it with old school Halo being a place to go. Imo that's exactly why even though Destiny has seen it's ups and downs folks have stuck with it
  • @Jerasunder
I love the line of "If I did my job wrong for 10 years, I'd be fired." I say it all the time in reference to 343. Thank god they did a shakeup. I was just at HCS and talked to a bunch of the people over at 343 and it sounds like they're trying to have their cake and eat it too, by keeping the service alive at a skeleton level of content, while working on the backend to rebuild the foundation of the game. The people I talked to were very candid, and critical of their own work, but also genuinely optimistic. I looked people in the eyes that I've essentially shit talked and they told me they still think the game will get where it needs to be, and obviously they know that it isn't anywhere near there.
  • @codylujan
team snipers: exists 343i: "we don't do that here"
  • 343 is the kind of company that is given a bar of gold and molding it into nuggets.
