This happens to be a Craftsman 4.0hp engine, but this procedure is the same on most small engine carburetors

WOW, I finally found out how to clean out my carburetor!!! Man oh Man am I happy. This video is priceless. You can tell by the number of hits you've got that everyone has been trying to figure this out. Thank you so very very very much!
  • Thank you!! Because of this video I was able to get my craftsman 4.5 Hp Eager 1 Lawnmower working in under 2 hours. I was pulling and pulling and nothin'. Left gas in all winter and there was no oil left in the engine. Went to C.T. and picked up some motomaster 4 stroke lawn mower oil, a new spark plug and a new air filter. 20 bucks later and with the help of your tutorial and a 3 yr old can of carb cleaner the mower started on 1 pull! Never did that all last season. You're awesome

Thank you so much. Believe me, 11 years later, your video is exactly what I needed to find the courage to clean my carburator like a pro! (well, it felt like that anyways). Our old lawn mower (that we cannot tell the brand anymore it is so old) starts like a charm.

This is probably the single best YouTube video for cleaning out a lawnmower carburetor. Very clear and easy to follow. I have used this video to clean the carburetor on my lawnmower which wouldn't start. This cleaning process has worked like a dream. The lawnmower now starts after one pull and seems eager to run. While I was at it, I replaced the fuel line which was perished and the carburetor fuel bowl which had a broken drain valve. Great stuff. Thanks very much for this video.

Im impressed on the 'geometrical way" you mowed your lawn!

Has this same problem and thanks to your video, I fixed it and will now know how to prevent it going forward. Loved the sped up mowing sequence at the end as well!! Thanks very much!!

Thanks for taking the time to make this. Even 3 yrs later the video convinced me to do the work myself, saved $50-60. Awesome. Only improvements to this tutorial seems to be the cleaning of the jet holes with wire and also to show how you set the needle back onto the bowl clip piece. Also seems you can take just the bowl off and do *most of the steps.
  • Could not start my aerators....watched your video and followed it...they both started first pull....just saved me about $150.00 as that is what they charged me to clean both carbs last year....Thanks !!!!! Steve Langford

Preparing to resurrect my poorly maintained mower and trimmer. This instructional video has been very instructive. Thank you very much!

Boy, the lawnmower fix it shops must hate these You Tube videos. Big loss of business. Seriously though, do the following: Store fuel no longer than 30'days, and put a five dollar fuel filter on your machine. Done! Nice video, thanks for helping people!
  • @stucoian
Thank you for this video!! With your help I spent 20 minutes and $2 on a can of carb spray to completely give my mower new life. Excellent instruction. Thanks again.
  • @paddlemoomania
I watched your video and was able to start my mower with one pull after cleaning out the carb. It's starting better than it has in awhile. Thanks for the help!

This video was very well done. I thought I was going to need to buy a rebuild kit, but I followed the example given in the video, and it worked.
  • @shellbell542
Thanks for sharing this! The steps were easy to follow and best of all our mower is now running great.
  • @mufasers
Thanks for this tutorial. Got mine working just fine after watching!
  • @Sean-Aviation
thanks buddy for taking the time to make this video,

@binnsh Thanks for the support of the videos, and as for removing the fuel for winterization, I go through this war every fall with my father who swears by emptying it out of all his equipment. To each his own but I believe it causes the gaskets and o-rings to dry up and deteriorate hence why i always leave just a bit of fuel and some stabilizer in mine over the winter months. I always end up rebuilding a carb or two in the spring for my father lol
  • @matthansen736
Great video helped me out alot!! You are correct the hardest part was getting the spring and arm back connected
  • Thanks. This helped me restarting my lawn mower after sitting in the shed for 2 years.
