"I'm old. I'm satisfied. And you were my purpose."
-
What a soulful, sad song. She has a voice like no other.
-
"Living in the memory of a love that never was." Yes, I've done that.
-
"I used to hate the world and I was happy when everyone died, but I was wrong because there was one person worth saving. That's what I did. I saved him.”

If this doesn't break your heart, it was already broken. And you didn't know it.

I feel so stupid for not paying more attention to Linda Ronstadt when I was a teenager and she was in the prime of her career. She was soooooo beautiful, and such a consumate singer!!! I just recall she was kind of country and the news media kinda put her down from being Gov. Jerry Brown's girlfriend for awhile. I just never took her seriously until recently. I think it was a case of misogyny and the conservative media and society at the time. All the other heroes were tarred in one way or another by the mainstream of the 70s, the Kennedys, Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali, McGovern, Jimmy Carter, most any Democrat, women's "libbers" and other strong women, you name it. I think they did a number on Linda, too.

The role of Nick Offerman in this episode shows the versatility of his acting abilities. Oh, and Linda Ronstadt is the greatest female voice of my 60 yr. old life.
-
The voice may be silent but we've still got the music.
-
Linda and Karen Carpenter the two greatest female singers ever.

We have all had the moments in life when Lindas voice was the sympathy we sought. Thanks for being there when we needed you.
