One of the most beautiful love songs ever created. Hands down.

I'm sitting here crying my eyes out after losing the love of my life last week. 28 years ago she worked at Dunkin Donuts and made my coffee wrong, so I went back inside and teased her, by the end of the week she had asked me out and we realized how lucky we were to have found each other. Wait for me Mama, I won't be long...

Tears streaming down my face. The love of my life, the most virile man I have ever known, with a sensitivity in equal proportion, just texted this link to my phone. I have known other loves over the course of the last 75 years...but nothing comes close to the depth of our love and passion. I never would have imagined this to even be possible at this advanced stage of our lives. The years may be taking a toll on the strength of our bodies, but the depth of our love and laughter and joy we find in one another...it amazingly grows stronger every day. He will turn 84 in 6 days, yet when I am in his powerful arms, we find the decades recede and we are in the fullness of the young love that set our hearts on fire the first time ever his lips met mine. This is our song, but I so wish everyone could know this kind of love.

This song was played at my young daughters funeral. The lyrics took on an entire new meaning to me when she died. The beauty of the lyrics still move me today and make me think of her every time I hear it. It will never be a love song to me, but more the experience of holding and being with my child and the closeness that we shared while she was still with us is reflected in every word. Thank you Roberta, and thank you for the day I was able to share this with you.

This song takes me back to when I met my first love. We were inseparable after the moment we met. I was sixteen, he was eighteen. I loved him until he died in 2015. As this song plays I can close my eyes and see the two of us together in the summer of 1976 driving along in his '64 green and white VW bus on Pacific Coast Highway in Southern California with all of the windows open. Those were some of the happiest times of my life. I miss him so much! I will see him again in Heaven!

This has to be one of the greatest pieces of popular music ever recorded. What a privilege it was to come of age in the 1970s. Great music was commonplace; you almost took it for granted.

In 1973 my best friend and I were married after a 3 month romance. This song was our first dance song at the wedding. We took a picture and added the title to this song on it. Thirty years to the month later we saw Roberta in concert and brought our picture. When we saw her at the meet and great, she talked to us for 15 minutes and signed our picture with "Love Is A Song". Well on our 50th wedding anniversary we contacted her again. She sent the most beautiful note back. Her song will be our song forever. So awesome she is!!!

I dont know how else to explain that this is one of the greatest songs in existence 🙌
  • The first Time I ever Saw your face was playing in 1966 when I first met my husband, then we played it at our wedding , we were married for 57 years he passed away in 2018, in the song still near to my heart I played every chance I get just to feel close to him.
  • Nobody can match the beauty she brings to this song! As far as I’m concerned it’s the song of the century!
  • Quite possibly the most beautiful song and most beautifully sung masterpiece ever!

The first time that I saw HER face was when we were in high school. I graduated in 1966, she graduated June 3rd. 1967. We were married June 10th. In a few days we will celebrate our 57th. Wedding Anniversary. I can't imagine life without her. She is the most precious gift that I ever received. D, I love you, T!! Tim M. 5-30-2024

My Wife Pauline has past away after 60 years of Good Married life, these words remind me of The First Time I saw her Beautiful Face, God Bless you Paul. XX
  • The first time I ever saw my wife, I knew she was the one. An, angel 👼🏼, a gift from God. Over 42 years have gone by and she takes my breathe away when I look into her eyes. A precious and kind woman that I love just holding her hand. Thanks Roberta for making a joy out of this song. God bless.

    ❤❤❤SHE WAS A MUSIC TEACHER..CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING A STUDENT!!❤❤❤
  • This song had and still has a paralyzing effect on me. I was in High School when it came out. I grew up with a brutal inferiority complex about my face. So much so that I suffered from deep depression. This song ignited a fantasy in me that a beautiful girl would fall in love with me. Part of this dream was that she would sing it to me and cure me from my depression. Now as an older man I realize that I was good looking. It shows you how bad treatment form others can cloud your self image. I am close to 70 now and this song still brings a tear to my eyes and a lump in my throat. Thank you, Roberta Flack, your talent has touched my soul. God Bless you and your family. Len

This song is unequivocally the greatest love song ever. Roberta Flack's performance makes it even more emotional. I was a young man and in love when I first heard this song. It made me weep. Now, 50+ years later, I still weep at the lyrics. Listen carefully to the words and what they express. If you have ever deeply loved another, you will understand, make the lyrics your own, and perhaps, shed a tear too.
